UK based star Kazz drops video for Remedy – Our thoughts

Creativity in the music industry is no longer about metaphors, rhymes and personifications but the unforeseeable camera angles that display the essence of art.

Late last year we saw great work by local video directors who showed some brilliance in video production.

Coca-Cola top 50 video countdown confirmed the improvement in local music visual productions. Having a Zim Hip Hop award-winning video slaying at number 48 that tells a lot more about just having a top of range cars in a music video.

Enough about the year that ended a week ago.

Already 2018 begins with some classy as the UK based Zimbabwean dancehall chanter Kazz AKA MR_BOOMSLANG released ‘Remedy’ music video featuring Bailey Brown.

Being shot and mastered by Tyler Chalk and Diego Visionz the video is a maiden production of their debut YouTube channel ‘Dust’.

Lighting, models, clothing and the vibe makes Remedy jump start your mood. BoomSlang Media a music stable under Kazz is hinted that they have more to deliver this year as they wrote: “2018 has a lot more coming for this trio (Kazz, Bailey Brown and Scott Whitman-producer)”.

Zim Models Awards..And the Best Dressed Goes to..

It was the gathering of the most fashionable people you will ever see in the same room as the Modelling family put their best fashion foot forward at the Zimbabwe Models Awards last Saturday.

The event which was held at  Pablo’z Club & VIP at Sam Levy’s Village in Harare honoured various models from across the country and beyond as well as rewarding those that have contributed to the development of the industry.

The night’s headliner may have been the honours given at the Zim Modells Awards, yet everyone’s eyes were on the red carpet to see who wore what to the big night.

Mudziyashe Lodge was sponsoring the award for the best-dressed guest and the attendees donned some stunning fabrics and judging such an event is as difficult a job a horse commentary.

But there had to be a winner and it was the gracious Sibusisiwe Dube popularly known as Busi.

Dressed by Posh, her dress might look simple at first glance, but its beauty is all in the details especially the long-sleeved turtleneck.

It was its long train that caught our attention the moment she announced her presence up the Pabloz stairs.

Busi’s gown literally filled up the room as it was all you could see with the embellishment of the dress loud enough to silence all the others who all but looked stunning as well.

Models from different categories also walked away with accolades for the achievements they have made in 2017, amongst the winners was our Zimbuzz Editor, Michael Shoko who received an award for excellence in journalism supporting the modelling industry.

How Twitter and Facebook Reacted to Akiliz

After going into labour for an extended period, Ammara is finally out and the boy Akiliz delivered for all to behold.

Akiliz which is the lead single off Ammara Brown’s album Ammartia – became the most anticipated video release in the history of Zimbabwean music.

But its delay which started with great expectation ended up causing anxiety and many of Ammara’s fans got tired of waiting and when it finally dropped yesterday it caused a lot of talk on social media.

Here are some of the funny comments Zimbuzz managed to pick

Coca-Cola Top 50 Music Videos: Who is your Money On

2017 gave us several visual combinations that changed the Zimbabwean game forever. The visual rivalry this year has been so intense showing how the scene is growing.

Butterphly Phunk – Coke on the Beat presenter

The competition will even be tougher with the Coca-Cola Top 50 music videos of 2017 in partnership with ZBC.

So many music videos ignited the year and it’s up to you the viewer to make sure that your favourite artists’ video is in the top 50 or walks away with the top spot.

Of note, this year has been the usual top video directors Andy Cutta and Blaqs but other directors have also thrown their names into the fray.

The like of Noxa Films and Chris Shoca have been making our artists look good inside their lenses.

Some of the videos that dominated the screens include the likes of Killer T’s Bvunza Tinzwe which dropped end of April and also received a lot of play on Trace Africa.

Tamy also gave us a double dose with the release of two videos in the last half of the year, she released Ndyeke and Beautiful Ndozvandiri

Jah Prayzah was not only dropping hot videos but represented the county well at the Coke Studio where he did collaborations with Uganda’s Ykee Benda and Mozambique’s Mr Bow

His videos Chengetedza and Nziyo Yerudo featuring Nigerian Yemi Alade are set to battle it out for the top honours.

Earlier in the year, March to be precise the swagged up Sungura boys called Kambo Boys gave us the visuals to Sweet Larissa and boy do they have style.

Other videos that lit up our flat screens were Cindy Munyavi – Setter Pace, Sniper Storm – Tsvigiri Muhuchi, Papi Pacho by Xtra Large featuring Stunner and BaShupi.

Dereck Mpofu also dropped a couple of videos but Ndinokakama featuring Madam Boss and Comic Pastor did well for the lad.

Coca-cola has given the arts industry a lot of exposure and we hope to see one of the many talents in Zimbabwe go on to shine on the Coke Studio platform when the new season resumes

Now, these are just a few of the many that we could have picked from, we know you have your favourites.

Here is how you can vote.

Send five of their favourite videos of 2017 to 0778230493 and type on your phone the videos as follows:

TV# Name of video no.1,  # Name of video no.2,  #Name of video no.3,  #Name of video no.4  and #Name of video no.5

Voting ends on 20 December 2017 at midnight.

DStv Launches New App for SuperSport Fans

SuperSport has launched its new app, designed to provide users with a fresh, modern experience that makes content discovery easier.

Navigation has been refined with all the standards – live scoring, fixtures, results, tables, news and short-form video highlights – still available.

The major difference, however, is that SuperSport’s live channel streaming is now hosted at the DStv Now app, ensuring the breadth of DStv’s channel offerings are contained at a single destination.

This will ensure the best viewing experience as DStv Now has been optimally set up to provide the best support and stability for live streaming.

Users of the SuperSport app needn’t be concerned – they will be automatically redirected to the DStv Now app in the event of them seeking live sport streaming.

Log-in requirements remain the same as before with users needing to use their DStv log-in details, which require their smart-card number.

Navigation is simple on DStv Now, with users simply having to click on the drop-down menu to “live TV” and then locate their preferred channel.

The SuperSport app is available to all users (both DStv and non-DStv subscribers), although live streaming is available only to Premium, Compact and Compact Plus subscribers using their connect ID’s.

As the live-streaming technology sits in the DStv Now app, users must download it. Both the DStv Now and SuperSport apps are available for iOS and Android devices.

Content is free on the apps, but data charges apply.

The SuperSport app is available in all countries. However, only sub-Saharan African countries, where SuperSport’s satellite services are available, will have access to the video highlights.

Unlike the SuperSport app, the DStv Now app is only available in DStv-enabled countries (sub-Saharan Africa).

The SuperSport channels available on the DStv Now app include SuperSport Blitz (channel 200) through to channel 212.
