‘When i Die Bury me in a Bra’ — Zimdancehall Singer

Female Zimdancehall singer Juwela understands that you only die once, so why not make the most of it by having a spectacular burial.

The singer took to Instagram to express her desires for the afterlife by requesting that when she eventually dies, they should bury her in a bra.

We don’t know what was going through her mind but we definitely know that she loves wearing bras that exposes her rich bosom.

In her dancehall career, Juwela has produced some very ‘booby’ videos showing her appealing cleavage both in its quality and quantity.

Some of her videos include Terms and Conditions when she pulled a surprising stunt of changing from Zim dancehall to Afro-pop.

Another one closest to our memory is BAddest, a pure Jamaican type of video, from the fashion walking with a troupe of girls who seem so ready to get into whatever trouble they can find.

Her latest video which dropped last December has all the hallmarks of a musical genius cum rebel who is not afraid to push the imaginative boundaries.

The song titled Good Gyaal bad Gyaal has a very colourful pool scene and she intelligently sampled one of TOK and  Fortune Muparutsa’s tunes as she asks the brothers if they want a girl with a wickedest wine or biggest behind.

What to expect in the video: Lots of bras, beautiful girls, behinds and one brother to envy.

The ceremony took place Tuesday at a local Hotel in Harare.

In the radio category, Mutare based gospel musician Blessing Shumba who scooped the first and second position in the Coca-Cola Radio Zimbabwe top 50 pocketed US$4500 and a Coca-Cola hamper.

Shumba’s hit song Changa Chajaira from the album My Season topped the Radio Zimbabwe top 50 after amassing a total of 140 256 votes while Tariro Ichiripo from the same album came second with 138 329 votes.

The first and second positions for radio gets USD2500.00 and USD2000.00, respectively.

Shumba is not new to the Coca-Cola top 50 accolades after his Mufuro hit won the second position in 2011 before clinching the pole position with the popular Chimwe neChimwe in 2015.

Upcoming gospel musician John Munodawafa completed the radio top three with his song Ndidzivirei from his debut album. For coming out third after polling 78 455 votes, the Masvingo

based star pocketed USD1500.00. The 21-year old who wrote his Advanced level examination in 2017 is a young brother to Munyaradzi Munodawafa who is also a gospel musician.

Munyaradzi who was on position 37 in the 2017 top 50 with a track tilted Bhodha Tavhara is also a previous third position prize winner when his hit song Zodzo came third in the same charts in 2012.

Winky D dominated the top 50 videos with Rugare and My Woman taking the first and second position, respectively. In the process, Winky D walked away with USD4500.

In 2015, Winky D again won the television top videos with Chiramu lifting the first prize.

Snipper Storm claimed the third prize with Tsvigiri Muhuchi earning himself$1500.00. This was his first time to win in this competition.

Speaking at the awards ceremony at a local hotel, Coca-Cola senior brand manager, Vee Chibanda said that her company was pleased to help artists achieve their dreams.

“At a time when sponsorship for the arts industry is dry, we are happy as Coca-Cola that the top 50 has stood the test of time being one of the avenues where artists can achieve their dreams,” she said.

“The Coca-Cola Radio Zimbabwe top 20 and the ZBC TV Coke on the Beat programmes which culminate into the top 50, have not only provided local artists with platforms to exhibit their talents, but they have also become life-changing events for many of the musicians.

“The top 50 music awards is one of the several ways in which The Coca-Cola Company and its bottling partners, namely Delta Beverages, Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited and Mutare Bottling Company plough back into the Zimbabwean community by helping local artists.

As you are aware, we have broadened our music initiatives to include Unplugged and Coke Studio Africa to increase opportunities for our hard working artists,” she added.

Apart from honouring the nation’s crème de la crème musicians, it was all smiles out for the 20 lucky viewers and listeners who correctly predicted the top five charts as they were also rewarded with various prizes ranging from smart HD television sets, home theatres, mobile phones and product hampers.

In 2017, there was a huge surge of fans who got the top five prediction correct as 130 fans correctly predicted the top five songs for radio and four people getting the television predictions correct compared to a total of 23 people in 2016.

Also honoured at the ceremony were Coca-Cola programme presenters who include Coke on the Beat, Coca-Cola Daily Sports Zone, Coca-Cola Radio Zimbabwe top 20, Coca-Cola Sports on the Driver and some of the behind the scenes crew members.

The Coca-Cola ZBC top 50 music and video awards are an annual music ceremony in which viewers and listeners vote for their favourite songs which would have done well during the course of the year.

Unlike other music awards where panels of experts are responsible for choosing winners, this one is unique as it belongs to the viewers and listeners.

Fans are empowered to select songs and videos of their choice through mobile phone SMS platform. There was overwhelming participation in 2017 with 1 204 419 votes being received for the Coca-Cola Radio Zimbabwe top 50.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Bandile first denied that they were anything more than friends.

“We are just friends, close friends. That is all we are. The truth is we are just friends, we might…we’re just very close friends.”

A few moments later he confirmed that they were a couple.

“We are dating. We have been dating for nearly a year now. We wanted to just clear all the speculation.”

He said that it was not a publicity stunt and they fell for each other after working together.

“We were just so close from always working together. She is just such an amazing person to be around. She is down-to-earth. She brings out the best in me.”

In 2016 she spoke to Slikouronlife about her break up with Dot, in which she explained that it was not caused by external parties, but that it was a decision they took to allow them to focus on their “own things”.

“You know that Dot has supported me for the longest time, and I’ve supported him for the longest time, and I think that sometimes we need to go our separate ways to build ourselves, and then come back together when we’re good.

“I think that’s what we both want to do at the moment,” she said, adding that, despite not being together at the moment, Dot remains in her heart.

Zimbabwe has played hosts to a lot of Jamaican artists probably owing to the popularity of the dancehall culture in the country.

Tuesday morning Charly Black posted a Facebook message alerting his fans to pass on his digits to Kenya and Zimbabwean promoters for a show.

The ‘Gyal you a party animal’ hitmaker was in Zimbabwe in Agust 2015 where he performed at the  Long Cheng parking area and gave a good account of himself.

Despite some violent skirmishes which saw fans throwing cans and all sorts of items on the stage and VIP area after a technical fault that resulted in the sound system switching off, the show was highly successful.

Rapper 89 sings of his Twisted Affair with a ‘Bhawa Ranger’

At first glance of the title, “Bhawa ranger” my overactive imagination paints the canvas with pictures of a guy in his prime, living his best existence and in love with the nightlife shenanigans.

89

However, my seemingly accurate envisioning was premature as the picture told a story with a much deeper colour palette.

This is an actual modern love story about the twisted relationship between rapper 89 and a lady whose patronage of the nightlife makes it a complicated affiliation.

This slay queen of the night nom de guerre, “Bhawa Ranger” plays on the heartstrings of a gentleman who knows she’s a rolling stone but wouldn’t want to have it any other way.

The story is cradled in an infectious ambience reminiscent of trap music with rapper 89’s vocals piercing through the new age 808 led sound, worthy of repeat value.

The year hasn’t even shown its hand but 89 has already thrown his calling card into contention for this year’s title of, “Club banger” with the aptly titled track, “Bhawa ranger.”

89 is a fairly new rapper on the Zim hip-hop scene boasting a hunger that’ll see him gift us with music in the near future for his place atop the local hip-hop throne.

His artistry is that of a self-taught genius who’s influences and experiences provide the backdrop to his music.

Penning his life story and experiences, he gives the people a peek into what his existence on earth made him, an artist whose soul bleeds ink that writes his craft, his poetry’s.

89’s poetry immediately paints visuals in the mind when one listens to his music. This artist is definitely one to keep an ear out for this year, till infinity and beyond.

Judy Goddard ZAA SA Female Entrepreneur

ZAA UK returns for its 8th Anniversary with organisers calling on the public to nominate prospective recipients for this year’s honours while South Africa has been growing strong and plans are underway for its 4th Edition.

Award nominations are now open across all categories and the public will have until 28th February to put forward those individuals and organisations they feel have distinguished themselves in various ventures over the past year.

The nominee announcement for both editions are scheduled to take place in March and the awards ceremonies are scheduled for April in South Africa and May in the UK.

“From our professionals working in various fields to our artists, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and charities, Zimbabwean talent is making its presence felt in our host countries” the Chairman of ZAA International Conrad Mwanza said.

He added, “the idea for ZAA was birthed from my motivation to recognise the hard work and achievements of Zimbabweans living and working abroad.

Every year, I continue to be amazed at how Zimbabweans continue to break barriers in their respective fields and that’s what keeps ZAA relevant.”

ZAA International has also released a 3 tier ticket range with early birds at £65pp before 31st January, £75pp from 1stFebruary to 31st March and £85pp thereafter. South Africa will follow a similar model with R500 in January, R650pp in February and R800pp thereafter.

As per our usual standards, both events will include a 3 course meal and a drinks reception, added Bridget Mudhosi, ZAA South Africa Director

The high profile occasion has become the highpoint of celebration for professional and artistic achievements by Zimbabweans around the world.

Last October, ZAA successfully launched another edition in Australia. The organisers, who have consolidated the awards brand in the UK, US and South Africa felt it was time to extend the platform to Australia, which hosts a number of Zimbabweans.

There is a huge pull to host the event in the Motherland and plans are now underway.

DStv Presents New Drama ‘NKULULEKO’ on Mzansi Magic

They say life is like dominoes – it takes one fateful move for everything to fall apart. Such is the case in the new drama series, Nkululeko, which premiered on DStv’s Mzansi Magic Sunday night.

Nkululeko S1 Cast

From new storytellers, Dumile Films, Nkululeko is a coming-of-age story set in the windswept streets of one of South Africa’s most infamous township, Khayelitsha.

Here we meet the lead, Nkululeko Zwai played by newcomer Aphiwe Mkefe, who is a talented mathematician preparing for a competition that could change his life and destiny forever.

When he makes an impulsive decision in a moment of blossoming love, he suddenly finds himself in deep trouble and everything he has worked so hard for falls apart – leaving his future in jeopardy.

It is at the centre of Nkululeko’s unravelling that we are introduced to Sibulele Nginda (Ziyanda Nyoka) who is the daughter of Khayelitsha’s well-known Brigadier.

Sibu is exceptionally smart, independent and while the two are drawn to each other like moths to a flame, it is their meeting that ignites a series of events destined to change their world forever.

Taking on the roles of Nkululeko’s side-kicks are Mandla (Tiisetso Thoka) and Buhle (Abongile Salli) who have to face their own demons while helping their friend come to terms with his life choices.

Buhle is a colourful hustler from a poverty-stricken family. He believes money can end all his problems and is not afraid to dabble in criminal activities to acquire it, while Mandla is a “Cheese Boy” who is struggling to find where he belongs.

And what is a drama without protective parents? Nkululeko’s father, Thami Zwai (Chris Gxalaba) is a caddy at a golf course whose wife left him for greener pastures.

His primary focus is to give his son all the opportunities he never had, and so does the Brigadier (Sizwe Msuthu), who’s determined to protect his daughter at all costs – especially from the influence of the troublemakers.

“Through the lives of the youngsters in Nkululeko, we’ll delve into the dynamics of society to explore the complexities of the journey to adulthood in modern day South Africa.

At the heart of this story are great lessons about life, consequences and fate,” said Reneilwe Sema, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.
