South African jazz legend Hugh Ramopolo Masekela has died, he was 78.

Masekela lost a decade-long battle with prostate cancer which he had been treated since 2008.
The Masekela family released a statement saying details surrounding his memorial and burial services will be shared.
“Hugh’s global and activist contribution to and participation in the areas of music, theatre, and the arts, in general, is contained in the minds and memory of millions across 6 continents and we are blessed and grateful to be part of a life and ever-expanding legacy of love, sharing and vanguard creativity that spans the time and space of 6 decades,” read the family statement.
Masekela was born on 4 April 1939 in Witbank. As a child, he began playing the piano, but a movie about jazz cornetist Bix Beiderbecke, Young Man with a Horn, inspired him to shift his musical allegiances.
Anti-apartheid activist Father Trevor Huddleston helped Masekela to acquire a trumpet and ensured he received tuition, resulting in his rapidly joining South Africa’s first youth orchestra, the Huddleston Jazz Band.
In the late 50s, Masekela joined up with Dollar Brand (later known as Abdullah Ibrahim), Kippie Moeketsi, Jonas Gwangwa, Johnny Gertze and alternately Early Mabuza or Makaya Ntshoko on drums, to form The Jazz Epistles, who regularly performed at the Odin Theatre in Sophiatown.
In 1959, Masekela joined the cast of Todd Matshikiza’s “all-African jazz opera” King Kong. The musical, which also helped launch the career of Miriam Makeba, received permission to perform in London in 1961.

So yeah people it seems we have a Zim-Zam collabo happening this year and this won’t be the first time that Jah will be working with our Northen neighbours.
Last year during his Kutonga Kwaro album launch singer Mampi made a suprise performance at the HICC and did her all-time hit song ‘Walilowelela.’
For those who need reminding, Cleo Clementina Mulenga a.k.a Cleo Ice Queen narrowly lost to Dillish Mathews during the 2013 edition of Big Brother Africa ‘The Chase’
Some of Cleo’s Housemates in Big Brother The Chase included compatriot Sulu, our queen of swagger Pokello and fellow countrymen Hakeem.
Beverly, Melvin (Nigeria) Elikem (Ghana), Feza (Tanzania), Bassey (Sierra Leone), Koketso (South Africa), LK4 (Uganda) to mention but a few.
Cleo Ice Queen is currently riding high on her smash hit titled “XO Fever” after winning Best Female Artist in Zambia, in last year’s SunFm Kwacha Awards.
Rapper Stunner late last year became a new father and has been pretty shy about showing her daughter’s face and would often only show her back.
But Stunner being Stunner loves to show off beautiful things and has decided to give us a rare look at her adorable baby girl when he shared a picture of him with the little one.

In a proud daddy moment, he captioned the picture, “You only sleep when you feel safe and relaxed, dear daughter I promise you a lifetime of comfortable sleep.”

Jah Prayzahtook some time off bathing in Harare water and decided to soak himself in a bucket of paint, but he wasn’t alone in that paint shower, he was joined by Nakita Blake.
Nikita and Jah Prayzah star in a Nash Paint advert
The two feature in a new advert by the country’s biggest Paint manufacturer, Nash Paints where the company celebrates its ISO 2008 certification as well as its founder Mr Tinashe Mutarisi’s Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) Quality Man of Year Award.
The ad which is inscribed with Jah Prayzah’s Ndini Ndamubata song has a familiar face and her name is Nakita.
Where else have we seen Nakita?
Zimbuzz’s first encounter with Nakita was in 2016 where she was managing Boss Spencer’s birthday party at The Volt, unfortunately, Nakita was in her working attire and didn’t conform to the ‘Red and Black Theme.’
Nakita (centre) Being interviewed by Tafadzwa Zimoyo and Hollywood Lee at Boss Spencer’s 2016 Birthday Party
Valentines Day of 2017 we saw a different Nakita, this time playing a damsel in distress in Tytan’s musical video Bho (Bata Bho). In the video, She was to bride to Stunner who played cheating husband in the same.
In December 2017 she also made another grand appearance in one of the best videos of that year when she featured in Tamy’s BeautifulNdozvandiri video,The production simply sealing Tamy’s pop star status and Nakita also sprinkled her magic.
Her latest gig with Nash Paints firmly puts Nakita as one of the most-demand commercial models and her versatility from wearing a wedding gown in one video to wearing a Designer Saree and to then wear a whole bucket of Nash Paints.
ZimDancehall master Winky D will on 2 February 2018 launch his new album titled Gombwe at a double celebration at the HICC, he will be launching an album as well as celebrating his 35th birthday.
Winky D
But Winky D has always one to come up with complex titles for his albums and songs, and the new one will be no different.
This will be the first time that 2 Kings have hosted a stand-alone Winky D show at the HICC and are looking forward to filling the venue, a feat which if achieved, Winky would have established himself as one of the top artists in the country
The star spoke to this reporter at the Coca-Cola Top 50 winners prize handover at Crown Plaza Hotel, where he gave a hint of what to expect from his new delivery.
“Like always, expect the unexpected, whatever you are you looking forward to, we will do the opposite, it’s going to be crazy,” he said.
He said of Gombwe: This one needs a dictionary, Gombwe is like a higher order, when you have exhausted all your wisdom, Gombwe will show you the way.
According to the website meaningslike.com ,Gombweis a person who has the potential to attain spiritual enlightenment.
The website further gives a detailed meaning of the personality: They can become great spiritual guides, fantastic psychologists or very good physicians thanks to their ability to connect with everyone on a human level.
People with this name who have become the best versions of themselves are tremendously intuitive and possess an endless imagination, which enables them to become good artists.
Their ability to connect the conscious and unconscious makes them able to create imaginary worlds.
Such skills are necessary for good writers. Having high sensitivity that is way above normal makes them tremendously receptive to feelings of others.
In some cases, they may be overly empathetic, but once they learn to stay objective, it will help lead others on the right path. Often clarity only comes after they reach maturity, at which point their capacity for reflection is greater.
Although their authentic journey in life begins later than desired, their influence on those around them will be highly beneficial.
Warriors Striker Tendai Ndoro wedded his beautiful bride in December after he had proposed in a very cute wayin front of family members including his mother.
Ndoro who was based in Saudi Arabia by then posted a wedding picture of himself with a bevvy of beauties that made our December memorable.
In a new trend, two of the six bridesmaids decided to lift their rear up to the heavens for all to see. (**Takes a moment of Silence for the photographer)
It seems the Ndoro family spends more time on Instagram, studying the photographical trends (their inlaw has set quite a few, see below picture)

Tahle WeDzinza and Jah Prayzah released their long-awaited song and video Give me More on Monday and its the first Military Touch Movement project of 2018.
Tahle WeDzinza
Up until this video, Tahle’s voice has been echoing in our ears ever since she teased us with those high notes on MTM collaboration Chekeche.
Here are Zimbuzz’s Five Talking Points from the song
1. Tahle is as brilliant as we had hoped
Collaborating with Zimbabwe’s top musician is not an easy job and for a virtually unknown singer, chances are that Tahle would have been completely swallowed by Jah Prayzah’s brilliance.
But that’s not the case. She held her own.
Tahle confidently delivers her vocal duties on the duet with such simplicity of an experienced performer. Her verses are relaxing and as we had hoped from that Chekeche intro, She is as Brilliant as we had Hoped.
2. Tahle’s Voice is Heaven.
It’s not just her voice, but on how she plays with it. Tahle has the sweetest voice since honey was created. And the sweetness of her voice is even reflected in her soul, she is effortlessly lovable.
Whether she is singing up-tempo or down-tempo, she juggles her vocals in such a way that it makes her instantly recognisable.
The best selling point about her vice is that even non-fans will identify it and probably inevitably fall in love with her music. We hope she can make a whole album without it sounding like one song.
3. The timing of the release is bold and strategic
With the promising Tamy away in Europe for a considerable amount of time and Ammara Brown trying to figure out how her album was that forgettable and Cindy hinting on some huge African collaborations, Tahle has mounted a challenge.
She decided to drop a song right in the first month of the year and its a huge shout as she throws her name in the hat for a possible take over.
The next few months will be crucial as she tries to prove that she is the real deal. The single might have given us a hint of the sound she is running with. We suspect she is going for the Tiwa Savage type of sound.
4. Jah Prayzah looks set to be investing more in her brand
The body language of Jah Prayzah on the song as well the build-up to the single release show that the Military Touch Movement Boss believes in Tahle.
Another indication of this is the choice of the video director Nic Roux, the same who made Jah Prayzah’s Africa break-away song Watora Mari featuring Diamond Platnumz.
Roux has done videos for some of the continent’s best including Khuli Chana, Emmy Gee (Rands and Naira), Victoria Kimani and Victor Pedro.
And Jah Prayzah knows it very well that this is a great chance to make that business move and develop another star from his stable.
With such a backing from her Boss, Tahle might be the one we were waiting for.
5. We Need A Stylist for our Girl (Fashion Fix)
Tahle WeDzinza feat. Jah Prayzah – Give me mo
The school of style states that Stylists define red carpet celebrity looks by creating iconic moments to be remembered for generations. (Tahle’s style on the video didn’t represent pop star, in fact, it was uninspiring)
A look with a strong visual impact that doesn’t miss the point is a look that will collect a storm of flattering comments and write history. (Tahle pink outfit dampened the song and made her unpretty)
The stylist’s ultimate goal is to make their client’s style memorable for a good reason.
But we only have two ‘forgives’ to give to you and you have already expended one, Showbiz is for the daring, whether you are covering the skin or showing it off, set some trends, be the talking point. Be the centre of attention.
