Ronda Rousey arrives in WWE, crashes Royal Rumble 2018

Everyone knew the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match would make history. Few knew it would involve iconic mixed martial artist Ronda Rousey.

Legendary mixed martial artist Ronda Rousey made a surprise appearance to stare down Women’s Royal Rumble Match winner Asuka, SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair and Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss: Courtesy WWE Network.

The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion made her presence felt immediately following the 30-woman over-the-top-rope melee, walking to the ring to confront Women’s Royal Rumble Match winner Asuka, SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte and Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss.

Rousey, who was wearing the jacket of her close friend and namesake, the late WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, did not say anything at first, but pointed directly to the WrestleMania sign hanging in the rafters.

When she offered a handshake to Asuka, her hand was slapped away. A few words were exchanged before Rousey pointed to the sign once more. She then waved goodbye to the three Superstars in the ring.

Outside, Rousey shared a handshake with Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and then exited.

Ronda Rousey explains her lifelong dream of becoming a WWE Superstar and her admiration for WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper before “dropping a big fat hint” about her intentions for WrestleMania 34.

According to a story published by ESPN.com following Rousey’s appearance, the former MMA star has reportedly come to terms with WWE to be a full-time Superstar.

“This is my life now. First priority on my timeline for the next several years.

This is not a smash-and-grab; this is not a publicity stunt,” Rousey was quoted as saying. “When I first met with Triple H, I told him, ‘There are other things I can do with my time that’ll make way more money, but I won’t enjoy nearly as much.’ ”

Big Brother Naija Day 1: The Night That Was

As the sun rises on the first official day of Big Brother Naija, we take a look at the eventful hours before.

Not even an hour in, Biggie, just as everyone was relaxing and enjoying themselves, he announced that there would be a rapid-fire “Eviction” and six Housemates had to exit the House.

1517180293 34 evictees

This left many at a loss for words, some smelt a rat and others just moved along swiftly.

Not even an hour later, again as the Housemates began to bond, Biggie boomed that there would be a challenge for HOH (Head of House)

After much time and perseverance, Ifu Ennada and Cee-C came out on top and will battle it out for the title of HOH today.

Teddy A, Miracle, K. Brule and BamBam began to come out their shells and slowly but surely friendships began to form

As for the 6 “Evictees” that were left to face their own challenge of keeping hushed tones in the Arena Games room, their fate and reward will also be decided today.

Miracle

Much of the rest of the first evening in the House was spent just chatting and getting to know one another.

Wow, so far there has not been a dull moment in the House. As the plot thickens, we wait and see what Day one holds for you.

In the 2015 attack, militants from Islamist group al-Shabab ambushed a bus in Mandera town in Kenya which was carrying workers travelling south for their Christmas holidays.

The whole incident was later on put in a visual production Watu Wote a short film produced by Katja Benrath. The short film has been nominated for the much renowned The Academy Awards popularly known as the Oscar awards.

And the opportunity landed on Vusa Mkhaya Austria based Zimbabwean artist who did the lead and background vocals on the original soundtrack that he composed with the Austrian Florian Hirchmann and South African Elisabeth Kaplan.

The Bulawayo born artist is honoured to be part of Watu Wote a Swahili phrase meaning All of Us. He got this opportunity through Facebook after coming across one of his Facebook friend’s status saying that they are looking for an African songwriter.

He responded to the status and a few days later he was in the recording studio auditioning.

“I didn’t know about the other composers before that status on Facebook as well as the film” confessed Vusa who also did the background music for a documentary film Drankenburg Mountains called Barrier of Spears and Zambezi-The source of Life documentary.

Having lost his mentor Hugh Masekela, he said that it was his honour to share a stage with the legend whose music will live on and be appreciated by the next generations.

Indeed he is not an artist of background soundtracks but also a vibrant live performer who once shared the stage with Bryan McKnight at Hollywood in Vienna project and Lebo M of the Lion King fame.

He told Zimbuzz that locally he would pick Dr Oliver Mtukudzi and the Akiliz diva Ammara Brown for a collabo.

“Zimbabwean music industry is doing well and growing too. My only worry is the borrowing of Nigerian beats and music from other countries that are slowly taking over and we should be aware of such ‘musical colonisation,” he said.

He encouraged artists to highly utilise social media in order to easily reach international acclaim.
