Hakeem is in the studio with Tory (Rumer Willis) and Tiana (Serayah McNeill) when Jamal comes in with Tinashe.
Hakeem is currently in a relationship with Tiana but he couldn’t take his eyes off Tinashe. Hakeem asks Jamal, “Who’s this caramel macchiato right here?” when he sees Tinashe.
Hakeem asks Tinashe if she wants to have some drinks but she says no because she’s busy working with Jamal.
Tinashe explains that she’s helping Jamal with his visual album. Jamal was planning to include Cookie and Angelo at the end of the album.
Angelo told Jamal that he was planning to propose to Cookie but they ended up breaking up moments after he tried to put a ring on it.
-LONDON: Candice Mwakalyelye will this year host the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards being held at the Cumberland hotel in London
Celebrated TV and radio personality Candice Mwakalyelye has been announced as the host of the Zim Achievers Gala to be held in London this Saturday.
Candice Mwakalyelye
Speaking ahead of the event, Candice said she was thrilled to be hosting the 7th edition of the ZAA.
“I am thrilled to be hosting the Zim Achievers Awards this year, as it is an amazing opportunity to connect with those changing the narrative abroad.”
“I am also looking forward to celebrating milestones with the various individuals being honoured on the night, and of course having a splendid evening with everyone.
“I love interacting with my audience and all I can say is, bring your dancing shoes too because we are going to celebrate in style,” she added.
A voice over artist, brand ambassador and newscaster, Mwakalyelye’s broadcasting career began in Tanzania in 2006, working as an on-air personality for East Africa Television Ltd.
In 2011 she moved back to Zimbabwe to build on what she was already doing. She joined the ZiFM team in 2012 and quickly rose through the ranks as the news & business anchor, and the Social Media manager.
Known for her signature blonde hair and luscious red lipstick the Mutare born beauty has hosted events such as Unplugged Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe Film and Television Awards (ZFTA) and Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA).
She has since left ZiFM but her strong social media presence has resulted in several brand endorsements, including Senditoo, Make up by Gamu and DeeKawZee accessories.
Organisers of the Harare International festival of the Arts (HIFA) today announced that they have moved the show time for the Tuku and Winky D gig.
The move is aimed at accommodating more people as it is now happening earlier than previously scheduled.
The show is now happening at 7:15 pm at the ZOl Mainstage.
Another artist Ghana’s only Grammy nominated singer Rocky Dawuni has been moved to the 10pm slot.
Rocky was named one of Africa’s Top 10 global stars by CNN and straddles boundaries between Africa, the Caribbean and the U.S. to create his globally influential Afro Roots sound.
HIFA program this year is looking somewhat lukewarm and uninspiring and the Friday gig is poised to be the one to set the festival ablaze.
The two will be perfoming alongside ‘friends’ whose identity has been kept a suprise but fans are hoping it would be a night worth the cold.
The opening ceremony which took place last night failed to set the tone for the festival as it was marred by a delay, something which has never happened in the history of HIFA.
However the return of the festival was welcomed by many as it took a break last year and experimented with pop up shows which the organisers said didn’t work out very well.
Zimbabwe was part of the international frenzy as renowned choreographer and Dancer John Cole had a Full day of Dancing at Meikles Hotels.

Dance is an internationally approved Language, lifestyle and Sport, Saturday was when dance lovers came together and celebrated the evolution of dance from Waltzing to dabbing.
The students learnt choreography for the popular songs of the country including sendekera and Chekeche and were treated to Celebrity appearances by the likes of Marshall Malikula (Fashion Artist) who kept Up with the rigorous steps of John Cole.
During the water breaks, Zimbuzz managed to speak to Marshal who said that he had come to support John Cole because he is a man of passion and vision who knows what he wants for Dance and sticks to his Guns.
He encouraged artists to support each other as they were custodians of the same market and collaboration was bound to produce quality product for consumers of art.
Caroline (18 years) indicated that she had never danced professionally before and was having a lot of Fun learning how to put together different dances together to make amazing choreography, she was ecstatic that ColeNation (John Cole and associates) had birthed such a platform for budding dancers like herself.
Zimbuzz had a Lot of Fun and enough exercise to last us a Whole Year at World Dance Day, but If you think you would rather hit the dance floor than the gym you are in luck as Classes are ongoing at Meikles Hotel every Saturday for $5 per person per class.
So shake a Tailfeather and learn to Impress, we are just going to pretend that our muscles don’t hurt
Andy Brown’s son, Alex Brown has been selected as one of the rising music stars to perform at the sold out Zimbabwe Achievers Awards in the UK.
Alex Brown
This year’s edition is being held at the Cumberland hotel this Saturday where the multi-talented guitar player is set to announce his arrival as a superstar.
“For the past seven years guests to our previous events have had the opportunity to witness first-hand, upcoming gifted artists, and we want to keep that trend going,” said Events Coordinator Nothando Ndebele.
Other performers for the prestigious event include gospel singer Dalia Majongwe, performing artist Bea Muzenda, bass-baritonist, Simon Shibambu and soulful jazz sensation Nandi.
Nandi
Over the years the Awards ceremony has given the platform to up and coming artists who have since become household names.
These include Cynthia Mare, Tinashe Kachingwe, Tariro NeGitare, Chashe and Gemma Griffiths, among others.
“Most of the artists that have featured at the Zim Achievers awards since its inauguration have been relatively unknown but are doing or have gone on to do amazing things.”
“We have the likes of Simon who has performed for the First Lady of China on her visit to London and, for Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations at Westminster Abbey.
We also have Nandi whose dynamic and graceful voice has adorned the stage of venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, The Roundhouse and The Southbank Centre, and we are delighted that they will share their talent with our guests on Saturday.
We believe that the ZAA platform is not only about celebrating those who are successful and achieving great things but, there to recognise and propel rising talent in our community,” she added.
Alex Brown has been on the music scene for a few years and is currently working on his own music. Based in the United States, the star attributes his style of music to his father who he says taught him how to play Afro pop music.
“I used to play a lot of rock music, but before my father passed on, he afforded me the wonderful gift of fusing afro pop with all the urban elements I had already acquired and I will forever be grateful to him for that,” said Brown.
Brown, also a talented mbira player, will be joined on stage by his aunt and Zimbabwean artist TariMari.
TariMari is a former band member of the late Mbira Queen, Chiwoniso Maraire.
First lady Dr Grace Mugabe said she loves local music and is a keen supporter of all things to do with the promotion of local content.
First Lady Dr Grace officiating at the house handover yesterday
Speaking at the house handover ceremony of musician Comrade Chinx, Dr Grace said she only played local music.
“I only play local music in the gym when I am training”, she said.
She also said that she was a fitness fanatic (short of saying fitness bae) and also loves to dance and each she is doing that she will be listening to local music.
To prove that she was in touch with local music, she handpicked some musicians who were present at the handover.
First to be recognised in the middle of the gathered crowd was Willis Watafi whom she said she knew from the days of Africa Revenge.

She then asked bassist and singer Edith Weutonga to come and help her sing some song.
“Edith come help me sing,” she said to her, much to Edith’s astonishment as went to her podium.
Upon realising how she was shocked, Dr Grace said to her “I know you all, you think I don’t listen to your songs,” she quizzed.
Dr Mugabe also said that she doesn’t tolerate any pirated music.
“If someone wants to give me a music disk I first ask if it was not pirated,” she said with a serious tone.
Also speaking at the same ceremony was the Zimbabwe Music Awards chairperson Mr Joseph Nyadzayo who was responsible for building the house in Malbereign.

Mr Nyadzayo broke down as he narrated a story about comrade Chinx.
“When I was out of the country with the President I received a message that comrade Chinx had died,” he said before breaking down.
“I then read a story that said Roger Confirm,” he said. (Referring to the story that confirmed Chinx was alive)
Nyadzayo commended the musical role that was played by Comrade Chinx in the war saying that he fired through his mouth more than his gun.

For a man who initially intended to study medicine, Comrade Chinx found the national call for liberation loud enough for him to abandon his quest of becoming a doctor and joined the war.
Comrade Chinx albeit a singer has healed many hearts through his music, perhaps more than he could have had he studied medicine.
Music is known for its therapeutic nature, and yesterday even though battling blood cancer comrade Chinx’s heart could clearly be seen smiling, as though completely healed from the love and gesture shown by Mr Nyadzayo and a host other companies and individuals who helped in the project.
In a moving speech at a dinner held in his honour at the Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel in London on Saturday, superstar Oliver Mtukudzi asked his wife if she could marry him again.

Tuku chronicled how the past four decades of their marriage had been tested by what seemed insurmountable tries but wife Daisy stood by him.
“D, I want to marry you again, will you marry me?” he said.
“You are such a wonderful person. I am not perfect but you are always moulding me to be a better person. We have had our ups and downs but, I thank you for being brave. I thank you for blocking all the bad things that come my way.
At times there are negative things said about me, and in most cases, I know that they are not targeting me but they are targeting you. However, you have chosen to be with me despite the negativity. God bless you,” he added.
The event, organised by exclusive events specialists BlackTie Management, was sold out, with guests coming from as far as the United States and Germany to celebrate him.
In celebrating his wife, Tuku in one of the two question and answer segments, led by popular event host Soxx (Tim2Soxx) and broadcaster and former radio DJ Ezra Tshisa Sibanda, spoke about the longevity of his marriage, stating that he thought in order to be one, couples need to work together.
“In my case, I am a lucky guy to be where I am. I am not a genius. What you see or have seen is a product of a wonderful wife.”
Mrs Mtukudzi, who travelled with her husband earlier in the month to attend the Y2K Southern African Music and Arts (SAMA) tour where he was the headline act, said that she was speechless.
“I do not have much to say but that I love you. I will be with you until death do us part,” she said.
“Only God knows what sort of person you are. No matter whether things are going right, wrong, or people want to stir things up for us, they will never win because God is a protector,” she added.
BlackTie Management Events Director, Zenzo Ncube said that the team were thrilled to have hosted the exclusive event for one of the greatest musicians to come out of Zimbabwe.
“We would like to thank everyone who came out to celebrate Samanyanga. We can honestly say that it was a fitting tribute for an exceptional man whose wealth of experience and wisdom are sublime,” said Ncube.
As if odds had not been defied yet, the HICC was almost reaching its capacity. The general populace was spending its hard earned cash to support Jah Prayzah and his fellow collaborators at a hard time to spend money on entertainment.
Even the VIP filled up with everyone expecting a dose of entertainment from the star quality that was headlining the show.
In what looked like a mere lack of seriousness from the Mafikizolo band, its set kept getting cut as the music stopped.
Jah Prayzah and Mafikizolo duo Picture by Takudzwa Chihambakwe (ZimboJam)
This started as they were performing the title track for the concert, Sendekera. People started trickling out of the venue at this moment despite continued efforts by the South African duo to try and facelift their act.
Their lip syncing did not make it any better. Is this a Sean Kingston moment, when foreign acts don’t put any energy into giving the crowd value for their money.
Local Supporting Acts
Local acts made this a better night by following the band format. Ngonie Kambarami and Alexio Kawara proved why they are still surviving even after the death of a genre they were said to solely belong to. Songstress Cindy Munyavi’s act could have been more electric had she used a live band.
Jah Prayzah
As usual, the leader of the Military Touch Movement lived up to his hype. He brought the house down belting all the hits still making waves in the airwaves including his collaboration with Diamond Platinumz that he performed with a band member.
It was a bit worrying when the only MTM member to support him during the Chekeche performance was Nutty O, who gave a spirited performance to a lukewarm reception from the people.
It was basically a #ToraMariUnited day for Jah as he managed to pull off this feat at a time children were about to return to schools. Somebody say school fees?!
And the night belonged to Andy Muridzo
The ‘whistle-guy’ as he is affectionately called by his fans was the highlight of the night. Baba Keketso is one artist who is vocally talented. This guy pulled off a feat some dancehall artists cannot achieve.
The singer managed to pull off the whole Cold Heart Riddim medley imitating each artist’s voice. He did not stop there.
He brought it home with tunes by Kinnah, Seh Calaz, Ras Caleb, Hwindi President and Soul Jah Love! This was however iced with an unforgettable mbira display.
This young artist might not have broken the market yet but it is not an undisputed fact that he has made his presence known. And he is coming for the crown.
Nyasha David has us enraptured by his new video Tiki Taka which dropped this week.
The track is enjoying a fair share of radio airplay and the team at JMC Studios decided to have the momentum rolling by presenting us with a video that has surprised many.
Filmed out at the LongChen Plaza in Harare the music video features some amazing choreography work by Realflex Dance Crew.
Shot and directed by Tafadzwa ‘Croft’ Furusa of GuardianPix who has been creating some amazing visuals for a short time now yet this music video sees Croft truly venture up to give a song more life.
The song itself isn’t laying on the shrubs of any past material we’ve gotten from Nyasha’s participation in the Dreamstar Zimbabwe 2015, it’s rather new with unbridled brilliance and liveliness.
The song floats between house and afro-pop but is catchy, danceable and lovable, it gives us the first taste of Nyasha David’s upcoming Debut Album.
The Incident a new theatrical performance written by Swedish playwright Joakim Daun and directed by Elizabeth Zaza Muchemwa, premieres at HIFA opening night the Reps Theatre.
Starring American actor Thomas Vilorio and Zimbabwean NAMA nominated actress Charlene Mangweni The Incident tells the story of Monica, a Zimbabwean woman moves to Sweden to pursue her PHD studies.
While in Sweden, she falls in love with Jan, a Swedish headmaster.
Jan helps her feel part of Swedish society and convinces her to follow him when he takes up a new job in small town in South Sweden.
One day at her new job as a secondary teacher she gets into a quarrel with one of her students. The student then makes an allegation against Monica.
As the news of ‘The Incident’ reaches the rest of the school and the people in the small town, the ground under her starts unravel.
The Incident is a love story that makes us look closer at the dichotomy of when outsiders are one of us and when they are not. It allows audiences to reflect over what how far we are willing to go to understand those that are different from ourselves.
Catch it on Wednesday, May 3 at 11:30 am at Reps Theatre Upstairs
