Chiwenga gives Valentine’s treat to Female Prisoners

Founder of Mushamukadzi Charity Organisation Mrs Marry Chiwenga yesterday decided to give a Valentine’s treat to inmates at the Chikurubi Female Prison.

Valentine’s day is a day where Swiss chocolates and giant teddy bears are being displayed in every shop window, red heart-shaped balloons in every supermarket and rose petals were scattered on home and hotel beds.

Those incarcerated can only dream of such privileges as their plight is more than just a yearning to hear the latest Ed Sheeran love song.

On a holiday made for showing love and affection, the former model and Miss World Zimbabwe chairperson accompanied by her mother Mrs Mubaiwa made a surprise ‘love’ visit to the ladies.

It was all smiles and ululation as the prisoners were munching some fried chicken while looking at piles of donations that the wife of the country’s Vice president had brought.

Said Mrs Chiwenga: “Today being the 14th of February Valentine’s day were couples alike show each other affection through buying gifts for each other sending flowers to their other half, I want this day to be the day that I give and I hope I will be able to give you such.”

“In our homes, we show each other love on a daily basis and we are here to extend the same love to you”

Chiwenga said she had come to give joy and hope to the inmates and expressed happiness that some of the inmates were pursuing education whilst incarcerated.

She gave away five brand new computers to be used by those pursuing qualifications so as to conduct their researches.

Among the donations were 100 cases of sanitary pads, 100 bags of mealie meal, sewing machines, boxes of soaps and six bales of clothes to be worn when the inmates finally get their freedom.

She also donated raw materials needed to make reusable sanitary pads as she said this will go a long way in alleviating the challenges of sanitary wear costs.

Mrs Chiwenga also compelled the female prisoners to take to heart the advice that they were given by the First Lady Mrs Auxilia Mnangagwa when she paid a Christmas visit to the same prison last year.

With Love from Barcelona – Jah Prayzah Sings with the Angels

With Angel Lo, Jah Prayzah and the Grammy-winning reggae crooner Jah Cure has delivered the greatest Valentine gift to the world spectacularly on an immersive afrobeat beat like you’ve never heard before.

It’s the mushy definition of a love song that becomes all the more powerful for it.

It is as captivating as it is enthralling and what brings it to life so gloriously is that it has all the corny trappings of a by-the-numbers ballad to it: the swooning, arpeggiated opening, the crescendo and an epic orchestral feel, lyrics whose blatant emotional manipulation ought to fall right apart under scrutiny.

There’s real, undeniable hunger in Jah Prayzah’s luminous and raw vocal, the push and pull of the instrumentation is subtler than expected ( great job DJ Tamuka), and the words reveal layers where true fidelity fights to overcome lingering doubt.

And of special note is Jah Prayzah’s most unapologetically romantic slow-wedding dance, and of course, Sylent Nqo who co-wrote the song. He has definitely got a thing for love.

Overall, this is a love song with touches of sensuality sprinkled all over it. It is that kinda love song you wanna hear when you need some morale to set up a rendezvous with your crush and with this, now Jah has his feet in many worlds.

We don’t know what else he has in store for the year, but we are predicting that this song is going to end up on many “Best of…” lists at the end of the year.

Vokal’s Tight Mission

His passion for music and the entertainment industry is very much visibly each time you have a conversation with Vokal Bakasa.

Gary Tight Pic – supplied

Influenced by the hip-hop culture, upon meeting him one can mistake him for an artist or soccer player, in the way he dresses and the large tattoos on his body.

In fact, he is a great football player and has played the sport with some of the country’s current great exports

But when it comes to business matters, he dons the sharp designer suits, which not only matches his small built but also matches the amount of music wisdom that comes out of his mouth.

Such is the man tasked with driving arguably Zimbabwe’s next break-out kid — Gary Tight.

Gary Tight is on the verge of taking Zimbabwe’s music scene to a higher level, For those that have watched him at the Tarrus Riley show and more recently at the Winky D album launch can give testament that the boy has massive talent.

The talent that Vokal is now expected to turn into a rich superstar under Entertainment Republic.

Vokal (Right) with Boss Spencer

This will be Vokal’s Tight mission – Tight in the sense that Vokal has never failed as a music manager, in fact, he is a celebrated and decorated talent manager having managed Seh Calaz, a dancehall star.

He later made a shocking move when he signed a management contract with the country’s most successful rapper, Stunner.

The two enjoyed massive success together with Stunner winning even more awards.

He also was his manager during the tumultuous period Stunner went through with his divorce to Olinda Chapel, As an astute manager, Vokal was never caught offside in the woes.

He maintained his role of managing the talent and image of the superstar. We all know it’s not an easy task managing a Hip Hop star, especially Stunner.

Besides being at fault and admitting to infidelity, Stunner survived the ordeal.

This can only show the astuteness of a hardworking manager.

But Gary Tight is a different proposition altogether — He is a son of a superstar, he is the Son of Willom Tight, he has genes of a genius, his success if cut for him.

Therefore Vokal cannot fail, it’s a tight mission.

Elikem regrets marrying Pokello

Ghanaian fashion designer Elikem has finally broken the silence about his marital woes with Zimbabwean beauty Pokello.

In a series of posts on Instagram stories, Elikem who looked happier than ever before posted a video of a huge diamond ring, perhaps giving a hint that he is marrying again.

A screenshot of Elikem’s Instagram story

He captioned the video “I’m definitely not making a mistake on the next one. The right one.

This comes after speculation that the two poster couple had finally called time on their short-lived marriage after meeting in the Big Brother House in 2013.

The two have a son together.

Cracks in the marriage became first visible after Pokello’s silence on her husband’s birthday.

Eliken was celebrating his birthday on November 7 but of the many birthday wishes sent across social media Pokello’s did not feature.

This saw Ghana go gaga upon the realisation that Polikem as they are known to the Big Brother family, could actually have come to an end.

Of all the times they have been together they have both celebrated each other’s birthday using the medium of social media.

However, then, Elikem poured cold water on the social media rumours.

“Why are people dwelling on what is on social media… I don’t understand why because there hasn’t been a post where people will not want to jump to conclusion to say A, B or C.

“Secondly, I am not ready to spit out what’s private at home out on air to say yes I am divorced or no I am not divorced so whether there is a divorce or not, I’m sure it is not anyone’s business so to speak,” he told JoyNews’ MzGee.

“People like to keep their lives private at a certain point in time, maybe we are used to people who like to post stuff… It’s not important for people to want to find out.

“We haven’t been posting on social media anymore but we haven’t also posted whether we are or we are not so why do people just want to jump into conclusion and say we are not because there is no social media post,” he added.

This brings to an end one of Big Brother Africa sweet love stories

Cavs kick off their new era with a statement win in Boston

Cedi Osman, making just the second start of his career, anticipated the pass, snatched hold of the ball and darted down the Boston Celtics’ parquet court for an uncontested, two-handed slam.

Pic by WINSLOW TOWNSON-USA TODAY SPORTS

Only he missed the dunk, and badly. The ball caromed off the back rim and flew across the court, landing out of bounds.

That was about the only thing that went wrong for the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers as they marched into Boston and controlled the Celtics on both sides of the ball, winning 121-99 on Sunday.

While Boston welcomed former Celtics into the building for Paul Pierce’s jersey retirement ceremony — Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, Doc Rivers and Antoine Walker were notable attendees — it was the Cavs’ fresh four of Rodney Hood, George Hill, Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson breathing new life into Cleveland.

Jordan Clarkson pulls up from deep on the fast break and LeBron James shows love from the bench.

Hill started at point guard, scoring 12 points and looking capable while defending Boston’s pick-and-rolls.

Clarkson (17 points) and Hood (15 points) provided a punch off the bench, combining to hit six 3-pointers. Nance’s numbers might not have showed it, but his energy played a role in the Cavs’ defense holding the Celtics to just 40.4 percent from the floor.

Just like last season, when the Celtics sailed through the 82-game slate atop the Eastern Conference standings while the Cavs seemingly stumbled along only to come into TD Garden late in the season and dominate Boston, Sunday was a clinic run by the Cavs.

LeBron James barely missed his third straight triple-double, finishing with 24 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds in 28 minutes, playing through an injury scare in the first quarter when he banged knees with Boston big man Aron Baynes.

LeBron comes up hobbling after offensive foul

LeBron James collides with Aron Baynes as he’s driving to the rim and James comes up hobbling.

JR Smith continued his strong play of late and rewarded Tyronn Lue’s faith in him, keeping him in the starting lineup, by going 6-for-7 from the field — including a turn-back-the-clock drive and dunk on Baynes in the first quarter.

And all of this after being together for only one practice, in Atlanta on Saturday.

“We don’t have a lot of time,” Lue said before the game. “We had a half a practice yesterday because a couple of the guys weren’t cleared to go. So just basically, just the biggest thing is playing together and moving the basketball.

Very generic NBA sets, but we just got to play hard and compete. And that’s the biggest thing we want to see out of our guys.”

The Cavs have now won two straight games on national television after dropping their previous eight national TV contests in a row. They’ll have another national TV game Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder before heading into the All-Star break.

There might not be much time to get things right before the playoffs, but the first steps have been overwhelmingly positive.
