Zimbabwe Teen Awards On Tomorrow

The inaugural Zimbabwe Teen Awards will take place tomorrow the 8th of April at the Sam Levy’s Village, Borrowdale at Ster Kinekor Theatres in what promises to be an amped up show.

The nominees have been drawn from various fields which include fashion, TV, Sports, Education, Music, Business just to name but a few.

Personalities such as music sensation Tamy Moyo (18) , models Hillary Makaya (18) and  Yollanda Chimbarami ), University of Zimbabwe’s youngest graduate Maud Chifamba (18) Bachelor of Accounting are among the notable nominees.

The awards are a brainchild of reigning Miss Teen Zimbabwe 16-year-old Tanaka Munyenyiwa.

“As part of my social responsibility during my reign, I chose a project that recognises the outstanding efforts of Zimbabwean teenagers through the Zimbabwe Teen Awards, said Tanaka.

“The Awards recognise teenagers all over Zimbabwe, in their various disciplines, and will help develop the confidence, self-actualization in authenticity, self-identity and worth, through early recognition of their efforts.

She also said that a confident Child has the power to make real change, starting in their discipline and local community with the potential to reach a global audience.

“We encourage every Teen to get out of her comfort zone, be a goal achiever, and be competitive in their sphere,” she said.

Entertainment will be provided by Jibilika Single girls who will be doing the choreographed dance routines as well as a Fashion show by Miss Teen Zimbabwe 2017 finalist.

What’s with Jah Prayzah and School Girls?

Jah Prayzah and Mafikozolo finally dropped the much-hyped video titled Sendekera at midnight todayThere is so much going on in the video so let’s just get through it.

The video is clean and nice to look at. The storyline needs a double take to actually start making sense. But it’s a music video not a National Geographics documentary.

 

What’s with Jah Prayzah and School girls?

We saw it on Eriza, then those Drum majorette girls on Mudhara Vachauya, now he gets Nhlanhla to put on a whole uniform again…fetish maybe?

 

 

I love that they got Nhlanhla Nciza to step out of her comfort zone and do something different. It was refreshing to see her in that light. She is always dressed to the 90s and for this video, she was less than usual.

 

 

 

We hardly saw Theo in the video. But then again, if he stood next to Jah Prayzah he’d look shorter than he really is. Was the camera man Zimbabwean by any chance? He was constantly being cut out of the frame. He puts the pfee in Mafikizolo for me.

 

 

The plot for the video is also low-key Kure Kure, Jah Prayzah wants a girl and the girl’s mom interrupts.

But he had it coming in this video for being a snitch. The Shekinini thing for me was a no. I feel like it was too much of an overreach to reach more African countries. A campaign for a Nigerian collaboration maybe?

 

And there is a lot of bum shaking…..

 

Overall, it’s a great production. Of course, we would like to have some of these being shot on home ground but I guess you gotta get it where it’s at.

Zimbabwean RnB superstar Tinashe opened Wrestlemania 33 with a flawless rendition of “America the Beautiful” in front of a sold-out crowd at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FlaCamping on Sunday.

Tinashe wowed during Wrestling’s biggest event and she did it big drawing wild cheers from the crowd.

She joins the likes of renowned artists Ray Charles, John Legend, Aretha Franklin, Nicole Scherzinger, and most recently Fifth Harmony, who have opened WWE’s annual pop-culture extravaganza.

Other performers included Pitbull who was joined by Flo Rida and LunchMoney Lewis for “Greenlight,” the party rap juggernaut that also served as an official WrestleMania 33 theme. 

He also brought out Stephen Marley for the reggae-lite “Options,” off his new album Climate Change.

Rapper Nadia Nakai gave us a memorable weekend after her feature in the music video Tito Mboweni left our mouths agape all the way into Holy Sunday!

The sexy singer’s bums made an appearance of just less than 5 seconds on Casper Nyovest’s video Tito Mboweni but that was enough to cause a lot of discomfort.

The music video dropped on Saturday and also features Queen Twerk, a social media sensation who made headlines in South Africa last year after a leaked intimate recording of her and her boyfriend went viral.

Queen Twerk is sexy, that’s a given but she didn’t do justice to her name, only swinging her wide hips from left to right like a normal girl she is not.

That’s why Nadia takes the crown and made Queen Twerk forgettable.

The fact that, in this video, she is not coming to us as a rapper, signed under Casper’s record label Family Tree…Nadia is coming to us with her butt talents.

Nadia who first appears from a distance wearing a bikini in ethnic colours and before we could behold the goddess that was on our screen she was already in the pool butts up!

That was the most awesome five seconds of the year thus far.

Shock As Miss Deaf Zim Winners Share $26 Prize money

Miss Deaf Zimbabwe Trust over the weekend hosted the Miss Deaf Zimbabwe at the LongChen Plaza but the winners faced a shock prize money twist as they ended up sharing $26.

The organisers who had been clamouring for sponsorship for the pageant ended up begging for money from the audience using a hat that was being passed through the aisles.

They raised $26 which was evenly split between the three winners, meaning they both went home with approximately $8.50.

However, the pageant managed to crown a beautiful queen who will represent the country in the international finals – Miss Deaf World in July in the Czech Republic and Miss Deaf Africa in South Africa.

The winner 23-year-old Chiedza Hukuimwe managed to beat 14 other contestants to be crowned Queen.

Ruth Mukome (24), was voted the first princess while Natasha Sibanda (21) was crowned the second princess.

Speaking to Zimbuzz through an interpreter an ecstatic Chiedza said she was in shock.

“I’m very excited but shocked at the same time that I have managed to come out top amongst 14 beautiful girls,” she said.

“I believe I am going to represent my country well in the Czech Republic.”

She, however, appealed to the government to take the plight of deaf people seriously.

“I appeal to the government to support deaf people and include them in national programs since we too can compete with able-bodied people,” she said.

Mr Goto, the father to second princess Natasha Sibanda expressed disappointment with the lack of support the pageant faced.

“We are very happy for her (Natasha Sibanda) but as parents, we are disappointed that the pageant is not getting the same support as Miss Zimbabwe and Miss Tourism Zimbabwe,” he told Zimbuzz.

“Nonetheless we are grateful to the few people that have shown support for this event.”

The event was hosted by ZiFM presenter Rebbeca Muchenje and Choreographer John Cole.

Some companies which donated goods included Oceane Perfumes and Posh who supplied some of the girls with exquisite garments and Tarisai Gweje who dressed the models in the African Attire category.

The set is amazing, looking like a Buckingham palace lite or maybe a dormitory from Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry in some far of green landscape from the hobbit ( I am sorry guys, too much throwback movies and fantasies about being a Duchess)

So this ordinary Jack seemingly falls for thisGirl who is LOADED, I mean she must have been some sort of heiress cause she gives him MAJOR keys to AMAZING Cars which I can’t name or print.

AND also there is very waist flexible Black man in a white man’s body who dances better than me

I promise you, the video and the song is long and repetitive just like any other Sungura Song But it’s very pleasing to the eye.

Wednesday night Andy Muridzo faces a defining moment in his short career that has taken a huge turn in recent months following his decision to sign under Jah Prayzah’s Military Touch Movement record label.

The young but vastly gifted vocalist launches his third album “Tichambotenderera” at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale.

Ever since his second album ‘Ngarizhambe’ Andy has become one of the premier commercial voice artists in the country.

Ngarizhambe gave him a voice that is today heard daily on street corners, radio stations, public transports and clubs nationwide.

Despite having his private life wide open following revelations that he had an adulterous affair with dancer Bev, the musician is keeping his eyes on the ball and the release of the new album “Tichambotenderera” tomorrow might be his defining moment

Andy has been doing collaborations with a lot of urban pop and gospel artists of late during the ramp-up to his third album, something which seems to solidify that he has become one of the most sought after voices.

The 13-track album will carry song such as “Mai Maria”, “Chingoma Cherudo”, “Kumabumbe”,  “Memo”, “Yahombarume”, “Tichambotenderera” among others.

He also featured Jah Prayzah on a track titled “Emma”

The album was produced by urban producer DJ Tamuka as well as long time producer Tapiwa Jera whom he had a fall out with following his decision to join MTM.

The two have since mended their relationship and said they will be working together on future projects.

The question still begs, will this be Andy Muridzo’s finest hour, A defining Moment in his career. Wednesday night will provide the answer and 7 Arts theatre will give the experience

Mahachi Speaks On Upcoming Collaboration With Tuku

Sensational gospel artist Tatenda Mahachi is in the studio recording his first single track this year in collaboration with a superstar Oliver Mtukudzi.

The duo is currently working on the track called ‘Ndisiye Satani’ which is set to be released soon. 

Speaking to Zimbuzz the award winning gospel artist said he was excited to work with the superstar.

” I am excited to be working with my role model and father figure Dr Oliver Mtukudzi.I am so humbled to be doing a song which is set take gospel music to another level.” 

Apart from Oliver Mtukudzi, the track is being produced by a renowned producer McDee Chidavaenzi and engineered by T1 of Pakare Paye where it is being recorded. 

 “Ndisiye Satani is derived from the Bible when Jesus fasted for forty days and forty nights and the devil appeared knowing he was very hungry and said if you are the son of men turn those stones into bread so that you feed yourself and Jesus commanded leave me alone Satan.

 “Today is the same command we are giving the devil to leave us alone and this is a song which anyone can meditate on casting the devil away,” said Mahachi explaining about the song title ‘Ndisiye Satani’. 

Tatenda Mahachi confirmed that working with Oliver Mtukudzi is a dream come true after one a fellow musician dreamt him singing together with the legend.

 “God is faithful and his promises are true, two years ago some artist had a dream of me singing with Dr Oliver Mtukudzi.

“I couldn’t believe it because I thought it was just a dream I only came to remember it a day before yesterday when I was reading where I wrote it,” he said. 

Elaborating on the release date, Mahachi hinted that the track will be released with the video anytime in April.

“We are planning to release the track at the same time with the video so fans should expect it anytime from next month no actual date because we are also going to engage companies for distribution.”
