Michael Mupotaringa AKA Mcpotar is our #MCM

If you are an FB junkie then you have seen him somehow on your Timeline.

If you are in any way affiliated with the Hip Hop Community then YOU Definitely know him .

1502208_10202921259972209_296390868_o

Michael is somewhat a unique character, the phrase “Jack of all trades , Master of All” was coined specifically for him . Why are we crushing on him?

It’s simple we like a Multi-tasker, the fact that he is a chocolate drop is a bonus.

Mcpotar, as he is popularly known, is a Dentist by profession but his first passion has always been Hip Hop.

The hip hop artist cum blogger began rapping in 2002 since then he has done songs like Zvakusungisa, My struggle , Like Me and Popota with the Hip hop Prince Sharky and That’s All  in 2015  which made it to Zambezi Magic and was circulated for about two months.

Recently the enigma released My City , animated style , and yes he did all of the animating by himself , the single reached all the local media platforms, blogs, radio and ZBC picked it up.

But that is not all What McPotar does , he is a Facebook personality whose posts are always thought provoking and hilarious especially with the introduction of Blazo, Tsano and the McPotar joke box .

His crowning moment we must say is his Mcpotar.com blog, which turned Three years old on the 8th of May.

This blog has managed to be a sort of bridge between Artists and Hip Hop audience.

The blog has reviews and previews about the latest hip-hop music, and theories if you want to know anything about everything that is Zim Hip Hop then Mcpotar is your guy.

He is not shy when it comes to “telling it like it is” and he has often gone sideways with some artists but they all (mostly) seem to like and appreciate him, with Noble stylz writing a small verse about the blog turning 3 on mother’s Day, which is kind of ironic since most careers have been birthed there (some died as well but hey my mother always said if I birthed you , I can sure as hell send you back) .

It is quite simple to find Mcpotar , just type in your search engine Mcpotar and you will discover there is no one else like him.

Leonard Mapfumo’s Second Coming

Leonard Mapfumo is by far the Un-Gangster-like Rapper that you will ever know.  He is that clean-cut,nice-looking hip-hop guy whom your grandma will love to hear sing.

10985329_1050561794960356_4278358557815781546_o

His soft image makes him so easy to fall in love with especially considering he belongs to a musical genre laden with street-wise hardcore rappers.

Zimbuzz sources can reveal that the rapper is back with a 10 track Album that is set to drop any time this May.

We have listened to a Teaser of the song titled Huwii which his did with Taurai Mandebvu and we are loving the sound.

The Legend goes back to the original Urban Grooves like sound and managed to pull it off on a Kenako production.

It’s refreshing to hear a different Kenako production which of late has become known for the Nigerian-influenced Afro sound.

The melody in the song is a cleary-refined Urban grooves sound that we are sure you will fall in love with.

He has proved to be a rap genius that could resurrect that old sound and have success with it.

He teamed up with fellow urban legend Taurai Mandebvu who did the chorus. The combination is perfect as it combines two lyrical gentlemen, making the song even more desirable.

The two forces are very comfortable in that Love-Songs Zone as they have given us some of the best musical memories to date.

The words are simple yet well put together, Mapfumo starts as he vocalises the intro in the background before Taurai hits the full chorus.

“iti huhwi ndizivewo pauri babe, uripi ndinomira kusvika rinhi babe”

“ndanzwa nekutenderera,kuswero perezeka,ndakamirira iwe…”

But Why Did Leo Leave?

For many years now I have asked myself this question over and over again, of course, he didn’t disappear totally but has been dropping a few singles in between the years.

But bottom line is that he has disappointed.

Disappointing in that we loved him. We expected more. We still do. We hate him for abandoning us.

He became that runaway groom who cowered in the face of commitment, always leaves just before the climax of things.

Dear Leo, I hope this time you are here to stay.

Need for Thirst: Our hot shirtless celebrities

There has been a growing trend in the streets of Harare , Men have been “going buff” , yep the men of Harare decided that those white/black vee neck tees need to be filled out with some sculpted chest muscles.

But do you know what is better than a man who fills out a Tee-shirt ?It’s  a man WITHOUT his Shirt on.  As the official rep of the #Thirstraisingcommittee I present to you The fine men of Zim and some visitors with their shirts off ( Cue the magic mike music Please)

Soul Jah Love was housed in the same Hotel that President Obama and his family booked

Dancehall star Soul Jah Love must have felt presidential for a few nights, as he slept and dined in the prestigious Hotel that housed the Obama Family when they visited South Africa.

Zimbuzz sources revealed that when Soul Jah Love was in South Africa for the video shoot of Mari Mari, Queen Vee decided to treat him by booking him into the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sandton.

The same housed America’s First Family when they visited South Africa in 2013.

“Queen Vee wanted to give Soul Jah Love the treatment of a celebrity so she said she would book him into the Radisson Blu Hotel,” said the source.

Known for its luxurious accommodation services, Radisson Blue Hotels have earned themselves the tag of ‘Designer Hotel’

The group has more than 200 hotels in the world.

How did Soul Jah love spend his time in such a Majestic Place? Ordering expensive wine maybe?

About the Chris Martin show…The Most Valuable $10 you will ever spend on a SuperStar

The Christopher Martin show will go down in history as one of the best live shows we have ever witnessed in Harare.

IMG_5221

It shall be remembered as The best $10 you will ever spend on a superstar

Red Rose Entertainment really set the bar and set themselves apart in terms of giving people the much cried about VALUE FOR MONEY.

Well done Mama Red Rose.

Chris Martin is a beast

This performer is a legend and belongs in the league of the extraordinary gentleman. We were in the presence of the World’s Best.

Once he set foot on the stage soon after D Major, he went for a CRAZY close to 3 hours non-stop high-energy performance.

He performed hit after hit.

Just when you thought he was about to tire, Chris upped his tempo again to even more INSANE levels.

Winky D was good but that’s all we remember

Chris Martin was just way too good to even remember any performance that happened before him.

The Ninja president has had a good run on the international stars, outclassing them now and again.

On most occasions he became the de facto main appearance.

Well, this is one show that the Ninja President was not the Star of the Show.

The general seating was the real ‘VIP’

A view from the vip area
A view from the VIP area

This was one of those shows you couldn’t enjoy in the comfort of the Very Important Person area.

Well for starters, the VIP area didn’t have its own speakers and revellers had to content with sound coming from the stage monitor. As it was behind the stage, meaning you could only see the back of the performers.

If you are a music promoter, do some serious soul searching

Now that people have been served with what they have always been clamouring for: A proven hit maker, a superstar, a stage performer, and a great singer, it shall be difficult to bring in a mediocre artist.

Fans want to pay for an artist whose songs they know.

NB: A music concert is not a listening party where after the artists has done his 5 famous songs, you then agonisingly endure the next hour of unknown boring songs.

And Jah Prayzer performed…

Even the insatiable of fans were already soaked with the best musical food service from Chris Martin.

This was just one of those bonuses

Just what 2016 needed as Queen Vee,Soul Jah Love drops Mari Mari video

We have had the privilege to watch Queen Vee and Soul Jah Love’s music video to the song Mari Mari…and boy oh boy you gonna see Chibaba in a way you have never seen him before.

1K7A3011

The official premier of the song is happening Friday at 1730 hrs (CAT) on Chanel O and will be released on YouTube in the days to follow.

When the catchy song was released last year,it was guaranteed that it would become a catchy anthem, and now Queen Vee has done justice to the song by releasing one of her best videos ever.

Here what you can expect in the Video.

According to Queen Vee’s manger Phatbeatz, almost 90 percent of the people in the video are Zimbabweans, with appearances from DJ Waxy and a couple of Angolan and Mozambican musicians.

1K7A2904
Make-up time for Jah Love

Two Jibilika products, dancers Sean Ace and Mcdonald Illskillz Jonasi made us proud there, look out for their appearance as well.

Shot in Cosmo City Johannesburg, you first see Soul Jah Love in that real money-looking face (with head slightly tilted downwards)

This is what Soul Jah Love should really look like, a superstar whose talent is matchless.

Then enters the Queen herself dancing in the midst of vegetable vendors.

She winds her waist, slow and fast enough to leave you drooling in the face of the screen.

This is the kinda of a video you can’t watch with a beer bottle in hand, her hip rotation in that African print will make you drop everything in your hands.

You definitely gonna loooove the video

Chanel O today at 1730 hrs

We shall end here and not do a Spoiler Alert .
