Trevor Dongo embarrasses himself in immature rants towards Mudiwa

Trevor Dongo on Friday morning landed himself in a social media snake-pit after he had had a rant towards Mudiwa who had innocently accepted an award on his behalf.

His fans had no kind words for the soulful singer, saying his behaviour was both immature and embarrassing.

So what really happened?

After the ZIMA presenters had announced Trevor Dongo as the winner of the Best R’nB/Soul/Afro Pop, Mudiwa, after noticing that no one was actually present to receive the award, took it upon himself to do the honour.

However, Mudiwa, in his acceptance speech on Dongo’s behalf said that he had received a text/app message to get the award.

Upon hearing the news, Dongo who according to Mudiwa was in Canada went on a series of rants targeted at his ‘friend.’

In another tweet, which he later deleted, he mocked Mudiwa.. see the tweet below

However his fans turned on him and demanded that he apologise to the rapper who in fact, had saved him from embarrassment since no one had stood to accept the Award.

In another deleted facebook post he wrote:

After bowing to pressure and insults from his fans, Trevor then posted an apology but that wasn’t enough to extinguish the fury as it was dismissed by people as insincere.

Also, Mudiwa upon realising his mistake went on to apologise to Trevor Dongo for his ‘wrong did’

Again in another deleted post he wrote:

But did Mudiwa really receive a text from Trevor?

When contacted by this reporter Mudiwa declined to comment on the matter, however, a few minutes later he was in a telephone interview on ZiFM Stereo during the Ignition show.

Responding to questions from both MisRed and TK, he said that he felt like his name was being used for publicity but however maintained that “Trevor Dongo is my boy” and “I’m not gonna say anything bad about him.”

TK: But wakatumirwa text yacho here iwe?

Mudiwa: (after a brief silence)…Trevor is my boy

TK: Yes or no, you got a text?

Mudiwa: When all Zimbabwe didn’t even know he was in Germany………yesterday night Trevor was in Germany….how would i know that.

Mudiwa also said he thought Trevor was under some form of emotional stress since he was going through a difficult time, perhaps with his divorce.

5 things to look forward to at the ZIMA Awards

The country’s top musicians will ensemble at the HICC tomorrow for what is arguably music’s biggest night…The Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA).

The general ticket has been fairly priced at $5 while the VIP will cost $20, the show starts at 1800hrs.

There are a lot of things that gets us excited each time such events are being held.

Here are 5 things to look forward to tomorrow:

Fashion, Fashion, Fashion

sebastian magacha
Sebastian Magacha…seems to be asking ‘Do i look ok in pink?’ Well naaah Pic:Tnash Photography

As much as it is about Who-Wins-What it’s also about Who-Wore-What.

No excuses for looking ratchet on the red carpet or should we say no looking NAMA (pun intended)

NAMA Awards were just as fashionably dull as some of the celebrities who attended.

We are counting on the always glamourous to bring their best to the red carpet.

For a look at what celebrities wore at the last ZIMA click here

Tich Mataz and Candice

We are informed that these two will be our hosts for tomorrow night.

We think their chemistry will be a marvel for those watching, Candice brings her charming voice and the experienced Tich Mataz, his forever-young personality.

Candice who arguably was the best dressed at the recently held NAMA Awards will bring her best to the show.

We are also looking forward to seeing what colour her lips will be in (she loves keeping them very colourful)

The Musical performances

In between the awards speeches, the charming presenters and the dazzling gowns will be some of the best musical performances.

We have seen Ammara Brown doing her rehearsals and we are definitely looking forward to some of the hip movement we witnessed.

The tears, weird costumes, the controversy and everything in between…

Some of the costumes we saw at ZIMA 2014 Pic: Tnash Photography

Some will be overcome by emotion and shed a few tears (both for losing and winning), and some will crack at an attempt to give out a speech.

And then there will be those who will have a long list of people to thank, their parents, producer, their family in the diaspora, wife, pastor, fans (both real and imaginary), neighbours… (by then we would have yawned 4 times)

It wouldn’t be an Awards show without the weird costumes both on the red carpet and on stage.

Lastly, there is always that one controversial moment that will break people’s hearts and we are sure these two will bring that emotion…Winky or Killer T?

Rihanna is set to take her role as a fashion influencer to an all-new high after the release of the Rihanna x Puma Fenty Trainer.

Her half/side-shaved hairstyle once cause a stir in Zimbabwe and still is trending, perhaps this influence could work as an indicator to local sports shops to stock this new footwear.

Here’s how they dressed the last time we had ZIMA Awards

It’s awards season and we are very excited..we cant wait for the 25th of February to see what our favourite celebrities will come wearing. The last time we had ZIMA Awards the bar was very high in terms of red carpet settings.

Celebrities and nominees were ferried in a hammer limousine to the red carpet and had their fans waiting and cheering them on as they stepped to the venue.

We have been promised the same Hollywood-kinda standard again this year, In fact, the organisers are promising an even better event.

Here are some of the looks from ZIMA 2014 as captured by Tnash Photography.

The later half of 2015 definitely belonged to dancehall chanter Dobba Don with his hit track Mudendere which sits on a very infectious beat made by Oskid, now he has released a video to the track.

The video which aptly depicts the lyrics in the song features fellow dancehall star Soul Jah Love and a whole lot of crew from the famous Chill Spot family.

Dobba Don has been nominated for an award at the Zim Dancehall Awards

Talking about everyday struggles and harsh realities in the ghettos of Zimbabwe, the director Simba Gee of Eastern Eye Media Production went for simple but very engaging shots.

New Dad Beefy has Hip Hop hopes for daughter Gabriella

Zim Hip Hop Awards founder Aldrian ‘Beefy’ Harrison is now a proud dad to daughter Gabriella Harrison.

Gabriella safely arrived on the 28th of January at the Avenues clinic in Harare.

Hid dad being a fun-loving party guy hopes she will join him in expanding his entertainment empire.

“When she is grown she may not be directly involved in the entertainment industry but I have no doubt she will have something  to contribute to her father’s empire and the entertainment industry as a whole,” he told Zimbuzz.

Beefy’s empire is Hip Hop, so it is our hope and expectation to see young Gab throwing a rap bar or two.

He seems to have settled down significantly since the arrival of his lovely daughter and has been missing in action for some time now.

He sort of explain why:

“Being a dad changes you because you have responsibilities and people who depend on you.”

“It also makes you appreciate life and especially that of your wife.”

“Gabriella is a gift from God.”
