Darikwa Makes History as he Scores a Beauty against Chelsea

England-born Zimbabwean footballer Tendayi Darikwa made a bit of history for himself when he scored the consolation goal for Championship side Nottingham Forest in a 5 – 1 defeat at English Champions Chelsea at Stamford on Wednesday night.

Tendayi Darikwa

Now he joins absolute legends Benjani Mwaruwari and Peter Ndlovu on the list of Zimbabweans to have scored at Stamford Bridge.

Let’s not get into the debate of whether he is a bonafide Zimbabwean or not because we all know he does not have the green passport.

But his parents are Zimbabwean and also his name is even more Zimbabwean than many who have never gone beyond the borders of this country.

Of course, the EFL Cup is not the most prestigious of tournaments in England but Chelsea remain a big team and scoring against them is a big feat right?

After all, earlier in the week Arsenal could not get a goal at Chelsea in 90 minutes but Darikwa a 59th-minute substitute poked the ball home on the stroke of fulltime following a swift move.

The goal did give the travelling Nottingham Forest fans some little cheer never mind crushing out of the tournament.

It would have been sweeter if he had scored against Thibaut Courtois but it was Willy Caballero getting his first start since his move from Man City during the transfer Window.

Ndlovu was the first Zimbabwean to breach the Chelsea rearguard when he grabbed one of the goals as Coventry ran out 2-1 victors in May 1994 in a league match.

The former Warriors skippers will return again to Stamford Bridge the following season to score another goal.

Benjani on the other hand boast of two goals at Chelsea, his first coming in October 2006 while playing for Portsmouth and the other one he scored in a Blackburn Rovers stripe.

One hopes that warriors interim coach Norman Mapeza was watching and would hand Darikwa, who has expressed interest in playing for Zimbabwe several times, his first cap

Then we won’t have to worry about his nationality anymore.

Ready to chow 15 000 kgs of Meat at the Castle Lager Braai Day?

If you think of it in another different measuring unit, that’s about 16tonnes of meat going through the intestines of the multitude that is expected to gather at Old Hararians Sports Club in Harare.

What are we talking about?

Castle Lager has launched yet another exciting edition of the biggest braai activity in Zimbabwe called The Castle Lager National Braai day happening on the 28th of October 2017 at Old Hararians Sports Club in Harare.

Now you might recall that last year a record 12,680kgs of meat was consumed in one day at Alexandra Sports club and this year’s target has been set at 15,000kgs of meat!

Themed the “Ultimate Braai-Together Serving Others”, the idea was born from the strong association between braai activities in the country, beer consumption and listening to music.

Last year’s Braai day

Castle lager as the flagship clear beer brand for Delta Beverages is giving all braai lovers a platform to come together and set their own record of braaing 15,000kgs of meat, enjoy their favourite lager whilst listening to good music on the day all for a good cause of donating meat to Harare and Mpilo Hospitals.

The campaign this year took off with a referendum where consumers of castle lager are being requested to vote to make the last Saturday of October the official Castle Lager National Braai Day.

This referendum has created a lot of excitement in the market with over 200,000 votes having come through within a week of launching the campaign.

Consumers of castle lager will be called to serve others in the month of October through various activities lined up for each day like picking up litter, carrying heavy loads for older people etc.

Here is how you can win yourself some freebies

To bring excitement to the day’s activities Castle Lager have lined up an exciting “Castle Lager National Braai day Promotion” that will run in selected outlets and consumers stand a chance of walking away with castle cooler boxes, aprons or braai stands.

For one to participate they are required to buy either a 375ml Castle pint, 330ml can, 440ml can or 750ml quart and collect 4 crowns/red ring pulls with unique code underneath and attach these to an entry envelop and deposit these into a redemption box in a participating outlet.

Since that history-making night in Durban where he became the first Zimbabwean artist to win an MTV Award for Listeners’ Choice,  he has proved to have a healthy appetite to conquer the continent.

The musician has landed the biggest collaboration of his career after he teamed up with African greats  South Africa’s Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Nigeria’s P-Square, Akon, Youssou N’Dour, (both Senegal) and DRC’s Fally Ipupa.

Titled ‘The Song for Africa’, the artists united for the cause of building hospitals and schools in Africa

The collaboration is the theme song for the Africa Leaders 4 Change Awards and will be released on 21 November in Johannesburg, South Africa.

According to information on their website, the awards focus on highlighting the initiatives that are making a tremendous difference within the African continent.

The initiatives should have changed people’s lives, by making their lives better without any personal or professional benefit.

The only hint we got about the song is that it “will make your hair rise”

“The Song For Africa is the Official song of the African Leaders 4 Change Awards… “The song for Africa” will make your hair rise. The passion and harmony of the song make it a complete African pride anthem,” read a statement on the Awards’ official website

This collaboration adds to Jah Prayzah’s continental catalogue which already consists of Mafikizolo, Diamond Platnumz and recently Davido.

Just like Diamond Platnumz did in December 2016 after their collaboration and Mafikizo in April this year, 2Kings entertainment is bringing in Davido for Jah Prayzah’s album launch on 13 October.

5 Reasons Why We Loved Ammara in This Jan Jam Dress

Since her burst into stardom, Ammara Brown has given us many goals, now she has turned the heat on fashion goals as she shows us that orange is the new red.

Ammara Brown in a Jan Jam dress

Songstress Ammara Brown modelled this orange bandage dress from Jan Jam Ladies and we are so in awe.

The dress is an attractive and outwardly engaging orange and white shading piece with thin spaghetti lashes and a profound v-neck area.

Here is why we love it.

1.This dress will actually save a few of our dollars

The colour orange, scientist say is associated with fairness and affordability, which is why you’ll find it at stores offering good value.

Those that know the price of this dress please confirm (Cynthia, Candice hello)

2.This Dress reminds us of Alcohol

Everything that a woman does, consciously or otherwise,  triggers a man’s interest in a very sexual way, and the bandage dress offers exactly that.

You see, a bandage dress, my ex told me, is much more comfortable than it looks. (Now picture a man having his beer in a very cold winter, he is not feeling as cold as he looks)

Again my ex told me that the bandage dress stretches to fit like a second skin (Now who can argue that a beer bottle looks like an extension of a man’s hand) Second skin  – Third hand.

3.This Dress Reminds us of Lingerie

We had to crop out Ammara’s face from the picture for you to get the point.

If you look at the picture again you will notice that the white contour lines on orange give out an illusion of lingerie.

From that picture alone I can see a plethora of lingerie options to choose from, let’s name them shall we: Unwrap me Teddy, Cage Chemise, Criss-cross Merry Widow…etcetera, etcetera….

4.It’s effortlessly flirty and simple

This bandage dress is straight to the point. The white symmetrical lines draw the eye to your bust, waist, bum, hips, in fact, it accentuates almost all of your body.

5. Because its Ammara, We Just Love it

She can’t do no wrong.

Known with the moniker Tigger, the guy in question is a hip-hop artist or trying to become one and according to Zimbuzz sources, he has been Stunner’s right-hand man for a while.

Trigger was secretly recorded in a phone conversation by Olinda as he narrated what Stunner used to do during his wife’s absence. You can listen to the call our Zimbuzz Facebook page or stream it from our Zimbuzz Youtube channel

Among the things that he told her are that Dyonne aborted 10 times and that she and Stunner were doing drugs in Olinda’s matrimonial home.

His real name is Takunda Curtis Chimanikire and our sources also told us that he has featured on a number of Stunner’s songs as backing vocalists.

According to chatter on social media, Trigger is accused of breaking ‘The Guy Code’ of never to snitch on a fellow brother.

However, some said the stigma of being a “snitch” has become a serious obstacle in saving marriages from impending disasters.

#TuesBeauty: Five Facial Features To Focus On When Applying Makeup

We are all created in distinct ways and are endowed with unique facial features. Our faces are an embodiment of these features, namely forehead, eyes, nose, cheeks and the lips; the BIG FIVE.

These features sit on different face shapes that demand particular make-up techniques in the same manner in which they demand a careful selection of hairstyles.

These shapes vary from round, oval, heart, diamond, square and long.

The interesting thing about makeup is that it allows us to express our creativity through these features.

Too often most ladies mismatch their make-up techniques not realising they achieve different results on varying face shapes.

Focus on the BIG FIVE:

1.Forehead

Rihanna Pic by stylebistro

A big forehead can be manipulated to look smaller by contouring from the hairline towards the centre of the forehead. However, if you already have a small one, contouring will make it look even smaller.

2.Eyes

Picture- Youtube

Eyes are closely related to, eye shadow application, Smokey eye, cat eye and eyebrow shaping.

a) Eyeshadow application – the common motivation to most ladies for using eyeshadow is basically to make eyes stand out and look more attractive.

Apparently, it does add some depth and dimension to the eyes. It can manipulate one’s eyes to appear larger or smaller e.g. if you have small eyes, avoid applying eyeshadow under the eyelids it will make them look even smaller and vice-versa.

b) Smokey eye – the idea of a smokey eye is that if your eyes are closer to each other, you create an impression that they look far apart, this is achieved by using lighter colours on the inside and darker colours on the outside and vice versa.

c) Cat eye – essentially gives an illusion of elongated eyes and it delivers a sexy defined look, though it does look dramatic.

d) Eyebrow shaping – one has to master the natural eyebrows because if you don’t, it creates an imbalance between your brow bone structure and your eyes. If your eyes are deep into their sockets, you automatically look like you have a noticeable brow bone and big eyes. Therefore no need for an unnatural high arch.

3.Nose

RnB singer Tinashe – Picture by bloglovin.com

Focus on the bridge of nose makes it look prominent and appear like it’s curved known as an aquiline nose. This is achieved by contouring and highlighting or better still, by the strobing technique.

4.Cheeks

Focus is on the cheekbone so as to draw attention to it. No need to use too much of blush, bronzer if yours is naturally accentuated, you will look very thin.

5.Lips

Applying lipstick draws attention to the lips and it makes them stand-out, however, you can also apply lipstick to give an illusion of fuller lips and you can achieve this by slightly overlapping your lipstick to the fine lines.

Delegates to the summit were chosen through a registration process through the organisers’ official website, the event was however over subscribed showing the great enthusiasm and expectation from hip-hop stakeholders.

The aim of the summit is to be an avenue of access. By sharing knowledge and information that individuals can take away from the summit, we hope that people can proactively work at bettering their art and the industry in which they operate.

It was founded by Plot Mhako (Jibilika Dance Trust founder & Journalist), Awa (Hip Hop Artist based in Germany), Darryl Nyamutsamba (Rapper & Editor of SA Hip Hop Magazine)

Here is What the Program looks like

Event will commence at 0800hrs with registrations and info pack collections it will then end at 1500hrs

PANEL 1: THE STATE OF HIP-HOP IN ZIMBABWE

The current state of hip-hop in Zimbabwe is somewhat stagnant. Although we consistently see artists putting on showcases, people booking studio time and even an annual Hip-Hop awards show, there is often not much to show in terms of return or recognition.

Similarly, while we have a number of notable artists, many have branched off into other professions in order to make ends meet.

What is hindering progress and artist support and how can we do more to elevate hip-hop both as a social movement and commercially viable sector of the entertainment industry?

PANEL 2: THE BUSINESS OF HIP-HOP:

When artists enter a profession, they do so with the intention of making a profit and building a brand. In Zimbabwe, we see some artists make it, while others simply do not. What is stopping artists from fully

What is stopping artists from fully benefiting from the industry? Is it a lack of contractual, copyright and artist knowledge? Is it poor management and lack of financial literacy?

What should artists be doing in order to work towards securing a financially viable future for themselves and their art? What do we need to do collectively to push the industry forward?

PANEL 3: LYRICISM, CONFLICT AND FREE EXPRESSION

Hip-hop as an art form is based on free expression. With that, we sometimes see conflict and the rise of divisions between companies, brands and even regions.

For a long time, we’ve heard the Bulawayo vs Harare debate, but is there any merit to it?

What can artists do to deliver better content and how can we work towards using hip-hop as an art form that promotes change, social responsibility and critical and conscious thinking? How can we use the art to better our communities?

Line Up of panellist

Line-up includes multi-award winning South African hip-hop musician and businessman Siyabonga Metane AKA Slikour.

Stunner, Cal_Vin, Tehn Diamond, DJ Mox (Star FM), Lady K (The Fixx, ZiFM), award-winning videographer Blaqs.

ZIMURA director  Polisile Ncube, Phil Chard (The African Hip Hop Blog), PD The Ghost, Keisha Thompson (UK)

Rafael Tudesco (Brasil), Mambila Mageza(from In Place of War), beatboxer Probeatz, Joel Gombera (Senior Manager – Group Marketing CBZ holdings) among others
