“I always had a passion for commercial modelling so I asked my friend Nyasha Technical if he knew people who would like someone to model their clothes and he led me to one of his friends,” she narrated her journey to the runway.

“I did model for her brides’ maid dresses and it did not end there he introduced me to Mercy Mashaninga the founder of the Miss Curvy and I auditioned and qualified.”

Black Friday Chaos Online as Websites Crash!!

Eager online shoppers have been left frustrated after websites crashed as thousands scrambled to bag bargains overnight on Black Friday.

Popular retailers’ websites were showing an error message as spenders attempted to get an early look dramatically reduced prices before shops opened this morning.

Frustrated customers described being “locked out” of websites as they hunted for sale items online to avoid the expected mad rush in stores.

One shopper trying to access GAME’s website overnight shared a screenshot on Twitter showing that he was behind more than 10,000 others trying to access the site.

Another shared her frustration as it appeared she was shown a holding page as she tried to use department store Debenhams site.

The message told her she was placed in a queue as the website was experiencing a “high amount of visitors”.

Ciara, who was trying to access the same site and shared an image of the same error message, wrote on the social media: “and the Black Friday madness has started. A queue to get onto a website.”

Another wrote: “I can’t believe I have to queue online!”, with another saying: “I thought the point of online shopping was to avoid the queues.”

More than two-fifths of shoppers in the UK are planning to spend in the Black Friday sales today amid warnings not to “get carried away by the hype”.

Some 42 per cent of Britons are looking forward to the event, and 22 per cent are specifically looking to buy Christmas presents – while 25 per cent are intending to shop on Cyber Monday, a survey by KPMG suggests.

Paul Martin, UK head of retail at KPMG, said: “Retail performance throughout the year has been dreary to say the least, and we’ve certainly had a shaky start to the all-important ‘golden quarter’.

“Retailers will naturally be keen to make the most of these events, and our survey would certainly suggest that consumers are gearing up for it.”

However, consumer group Which? said its over-arching message to shoppers this year was to not feel pressured into spending after finding that nine in 10 Black Friday deals last year were the same price or even cheaper at other times of the year.

It has urged consumers to be careful not to buy on impulse and instead research products and prices before spending in the sale.

Early indications suggest that Black Friday spending will dip for the first time this year since its arrival in the UK.

Consumers will spend £2.4 billion on deals in stores and online, down from last year’s £2.6 billion, according to the predictions from the Centre for Retail Research (CRR) and VoucherCodes.co.uk.

#2019Budget: What Prof Mthuli Ncube said about the Arts & Sports Sector

Finance and Economic Development Minister Prof. Mthuli Ncube in his 2019 budget announcement Thursday, said government will prioritise Sport and Recreation Promotion and Development.

In his speech Professor Ncube said the country’s facilities needed to catch up with the rest of the world.

“There is a deliberate intention to resuscitate and or develop multipurpose Sport and Recreation facilities throughout the country to attain world standards,” he said.

“This comes at a time when the nation is set to host the COSAFA and All Africa Games in 2019.”

He said the resuscitation will target major sport facilities which include Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex and Khumalo Hockey Stadium as a priority as it cascades to other towns.

The 2019 Budget allocated US$9.1 million for the development.

Turning to the Arts and Culture Promotion and Development Minister Ncube said that the Creative Cultural Industry practitioners require a conducive working environment to increase the quality of products needed to grow the export quota of Cultural and Creative goods and services.

“The target is to have at least one (1) Creative Culture Industry (CCI) space in the 73
Districts,” he said.

“This will result in employment creation for youths and women, improved house hold income and welfare, developed infrastructure and most importantly increased contribution of arts and culture to National Gross Domestic Product.

He also said that there was deliberate need to develop and support platforms that afford artists and communities’ with opportunities to interface, stimulate local economies, and drive domestic and cultural tourism.

“Further to the above, establishment of an Arts Development Fund will help grow the creative and cultural industry and increase the sector’s visibility by capacitating artists so that they initiate and implement viable projects.

He allocated US$1.5 million for establishment of an Arts Development Fund.

A total of $53.5 million was allocated to Kirsty Coventry’s ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation

The money will among other things cover for national teams expenses.

The Vine Music Group launches first Album

The Vine Music group has been on an upward trajectory for a few years running and have toured the region sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in music.

All that hard work and experience has now culminated in the Harare City Centre Seventh Day Adventist Church based group recording their first album.

The Vine Music are set to release their debut studio album, ‘Musandipfuure’ this Sunday, November 25  at the giant Harare International Conference Centre.

The group has a special mandate, to bridge the praise and worship experience gap and bring a solemn sound supported by instruments within the Adventist culture of music.

The concert will kick off at 16:00hrs for the red carpet entrance and at 17:00hrs the concert begins.

The group has invited a full 40 piece orchestra set, opera singers and a live band to support them in their launch.

“We will have surprise acts from South African gospel greats who will perform on the day and this will be a first in the gospel industry in Zimbabwe for an Acapella group to perform accompanied by such musical excellence,” said the organisers.

The concert will be a free concert and people can visit their website, social media platforms for a link to book their tickets and secure a seat.

“This will enable a smooth flow of logistics on the day of the event. The concert will begin at exactly 17:00hrs since we are working with an orchestra and they work on an hourly basis,” they said.

The Orchestra Experience is an interactive 90-minute event with a live orchestra that explores leadership, collaboration, diversity and creativity through the metaphor of music.

The participants are seated within the orchestra from where they can witness the extraordinary power of music to convey ideas and emotions.

The session begins with a performance of an inspiring piece of symphonic music, giving the participants an opportunity to observe the pivotal role of the conductor and the extraordinary interplay between the players.

This is followed by a series of carefully crafted exercises that facilitate a discussion between the participants, conductor and musicians about how playing in an orchestra mirrors a business environment.

Freedom for now as Ginimbi is released on Bail

Colourful social media character and businessman Genius Kadungure was late Tuesday afternoon granted bail by the High Court.

He was released on $1000 bail and will surrender title deeds of his Borrowdale home as part of the bail conditions.

Harare High Court judge Justice Tawanda Chitapi heard the case over the weekend when his lawyer Jonathan Samukange appealed the decision at the High Court

Harare Magistrate Bianca Makwande had initially denied his bail application arguing that granting him bail would not be in the interest of justice as he is facing a number of serious cases of fraud.

She also said that he is a flight risk as he has an established base in South Africa.
Genius Kadungure who spent the weekend in remand prison paid bail for 50 people at the Harare Remand Prison who were failing to raise bail fees ranging from $50 to $500.

The State argues that between February 2009 and May 2016, Kadungure, with the alleged intention of evading paying Value Added Tax, made a misrepresentation to Zimra that he had made total sales of $2 777 678 inclusive, instead of the actual $9 092 951.

The alleged offence came to light when Zimra conducted an investigation into the activities of Piko Trading.

It is further alleged that in 2015, Zimra conducted lifestyle audits of socialites after observing their excessive expenditure, which was not matching their tax declarations.

Zimra officials interviewed Ginimbi on March 2, 2016, during which he indicated that he owns a residential property in Domboshawa valued at $200 000, a Rolls-Royce motor vehicle valued at R4 million, a Bentley valued at $500 000, a Range Rover valued at R1,1 million, a Mercedes Benz valued at R1m.

Kadungure also advised Zimra that he owns furniture worth several thousands of dollars in Domboshawa, but failed to prove the source of his income.

It is also alleged that investigations by Zimra revealed that between January 2010 and December 2015, Kadungure did not declare income amounting to over $9 million from sales realised out of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and $1 191 713 being the value of the properties.

As a result, an income tax of $2 134 549 and $306 866 were raised in terms of Section 6 of the Income Tax Act, which he was supposed to pay to Zimra.

Mathias Mhere, latest star to pull out of the Peace and Family Festival

Gospel singer Mathias Mhere has become the latest singer to pull out of Wednesday’s Peace and Family Festival to be held at the National Sports Stadium.

The event will be graced by the Unification Church’s controversial leader Hak Ja Han Moon

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is also set to make an address at the festival.

Reports suggest other musicians like Minister Michael Mahendere and Janet Manyowa withdrew from the concert citing different doctrine beliefs with Hak Ja Han Moon.

“Following discussions with the AFM church leadership, taking into consideration the statements presented by the Evangelical Fellowship Of Zimbabwe(EFZ) and the Zimbabwe Council Of Churches (ZCC) towards the event called the Peace and Family Festival being hosted by Dr Hak Ja Han Moon and also to protect my brand Mathias Mhere Music i Mathias Mhere have decided to pull out of the Festival that is slated for tomorrow Wednesday 21 November at the National Sports Stadium,” said Mhere in statement.

“I have noted that the above-mentioned lady is not a christian and i as a christian has seen it not fit for me to be associated with the event she is hosting.”

The Zimbabwe Council Of Churches also released a brief statement regarding the event.

“Zimbabweans, especially Christians have been raising anxious questions regarding the impending visit of the leader of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification.

“As ZCC in light of our convictions and Christian traditions, we do not identify with the teachings and practices of this movement and therefore we will not participate in their event,” read the statement.

The Unification movement believes that God’s original intent was for Jesus to form a perfect marriage in order to redeem humanity and undo the harm perpetrated by Adam and Eve.

Because Jesus (the second Adam) was executed before accomplishing his mission, a third Adam was needed to form this perfect marriage and complete Jesus’s task.

This “third Adam” would be recognized as the second coming of Christ. As the perfect man he would marry the perfect woman and become the “true spiritual parents of humankind.”

Members of the Unification Church regard Moon and his second wife, Hak Ja Han, as these “True Parents.” Married couples and their families within the movement are regarded as the “True Children” and linked to God through the “True Parents.”
