Twitter roasting Ruvheneko for Father’s ‘Sins’

The streets of Harare Saturday were filled with jubilance as Zimbabweans celebrated the impending fall of a dictator – Robert Mugabe, but its a different story on the streets of Twitter.

Ruvheneko – Picture Facebook

Ruvheneko, daughter of Zimbabwe’s current Health Minister David Parirenyatwa is experiencing a Twitter roast from Twimbos as they express their disgust at her father.

Her father David Parirenyatwa was appointed Minister of Health and Child Welfare by Robert Mugabe in 2002 replacing a sick Timothy Stamps at that time.

He has since presided over the collapse of Zimbabwe’s Health System to such levels that Government Hospitals are seen by many as a death sentence.

It is against that background that during the week that the Zimbabwe Army has taken control of the Government affairs that anything that Ruvheneko blogs on Twitter is greeted with insults.

Of all her Tweets since the Military took control to sweep away Zanu PF criminals, the below attracted lots of fury.

Here are some of the responses she got

@Vokal_DaPoet
Let’s try a challenge called: How I benefitted because my father is in the inner circle? Or my dad killed a health ministry? You go first.

How Zim Celebrities reacted to Mugabe’s Speech

Last night almost the whole country went to bed confused about what had just happened on ZTV, Zimbabwean celebrities from across the country also expressed their opinions about a defiant Mugabe.

Everyone was expecting that Robert Mugabe will address the country he led (misled) for 37 years for the last time as its President, but alas, the old man pulled a shocker and did not resign.

Below are some of the reactions from Zimbabwe celebrities

ZiFM’s Patience Musa lost her voice

ZiFM and SuperSport presenter Mike Madoda gave a halftime analysis

Hip Hop Star Mudiwa was genuinely sad, he usually is not this gloomy

Some got relationship ideas from a defiant Mugabe

Comedian Carl Joshua Ncube

17 year old Paxton wins Idols SA Season 13

From the dramatic set, resplendent in strobe and laser lights, to the black lacquered stage that made the Top Two look like they were gliding on water, Carnival City’s Big Top Arena was the perfect setting for Idols SA final showdown.

Paxton

Facing off was Paxton Fielies, 17, from Bishop Lavis in the Western Cape, against Mthokozisi Ndaba, 25, from KwaMashu in KwaZulu-Natal.

After months of battling it out in a bruising contest that started with thousands of hopefuls, Paxton and Mthokozisi showed the country just why they were the last two standing.

But before the nail-biting announcement of the Season 13 winner, Idols SA put on a dazzling showcase of homegrown talent that saw the stage feature one formidable act after the other.

This season’s Top 10 opened the two-hour display of showmanship with a high-octane performance of, ‘Four Five Seconds’ by Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney.

The pageantry continued with special medleys and mixes featuring DJ Tira & Destruction Boys, Tipcee, Naak MusiQ, Madness, Season 12 winner Noma, Judge Somizi and Heavy K, Kwesta, TLT, ChianoSky, and KidX.

Season 13 vocal coach, Donald also gave the audience and viewers a taste of his Red Mic Experience when he took to the stage to perform ‘Landela’, featuring the Top 10.  It was a magnificent display.

There was also a touch of nostalgia courtesy of Boom Shaka and TKZee, who performed a medley of their cool kwaito hits that had the full-capacity audience on their feet.

This was also the season of record-breaking votes, with 98 million votes recorded for Season 13, while a staggering 30 million-plus votes were cast in the last week for the Top Two.

Paxton and Mthokozisi were not stingy with their golden voices either last night. Accompanied by the multi-award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir, Paxton performed ‘Stand Up for Love’ by Destiny’s Child and Mthokozisi sang R. Kelly’s The Storm Is Over.

They also collaborated on a remix of ‘Back To The Beach’ by Kyle Deutsch and Shekinah.

It was a fitting swan song for the two as they stood together on the Idols stage for the last time before Paxton was crowned the winner of Idols SA Season 13!

‘Pokello and Elikem Marriage on the Rocks’

Big Brother celebrity couple Zimbabwe’s Pokello and Ghana’s Elikem are believed to be on the verge of divorce, according to Ghana reports.

The rumour which circulated last week was sparked by Pokello’s silence on her husband’s birthday.

Eliken was celebrating his birthday on November 7 but of the many birthday wishes sent across social media Pokello’s did not feature.

This saw Ghana go gaga upon the realisation that Polikem as they are known to the Big Brother family, could actually have come to an end.

Of all the times they have been together they have both celebrated each other’s birthday using the medium of social media.

Zimbuzz tried to reach out to Pokello but her number was not going through.

However, Elikem could neither deny nor confirm that the couple had divorced.

“Why are people dwelling on what is on social media… I don’t understand why because there hasn’t been a post where people will not want to jump to conclusion to say A, B or C.

“Secondly, I am not ready to spit out what’s private at home out on air to say yes I am divorced or no I am not divorced so whether there is a divorce or not, I’m sure it is not anyone’s business so to speak,” he told JoyNews’ MzGee.

“People like to keep their lives private at a certain point in time, maybe we are used to people who like to post stuff… It’s not important for people to want to find out.

“We haven’t been posting on social media anymore but we haven’t also posted whether we are or we are not so why do people just want to jump into conclusion and say we are not because there is no social media post,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pokello’s stepfather Ignatius Chombo was yesterday arrested by Zimbabwe Military in a crackdown that the military said was to weed out criminals in Zanu PF.

Ignatius Chombo was by that time Zanu PF secretary for administration and Finance minister

Pokello scores Luxury Car Endorsement

Queen of Swagger Pokello Nare just got swagged up with a big endorsement from a local car dealership which will see her drive the lastest poshy wheels.

Announcing the deal to her close to 300 000 Instagram followers, the former Big Brother Africa contestant said:

“I’m excited to announce that I am now the Brand ambassador for SuperStrada, Zimbabwe’s number one luxury car dealership.”

“This is such an exciting campaign and this sneak peek (referring to her Instagram video) is an exclusive for my followers, It’s going to be a crazy festive season, so when u see me drive by in all the hottest cars, it’s SUPERSTRADA!” she added.

The deal Zimbuzz was told, will in part involve Pokello being the face of the brand as well as being the choice to drive in top of the range vehicles.

The monetary value and duration of the deal were not specified but its believed to be a lengthy period spanning over a year.

Pokello is one of Zimbabwe’s most valuable celebrities and her marriage to Superstrada couldn’t have come at a better time.

Already the influential Pokello has a clothing endorsement with local retailer Brands for Less and she also is the first female celebrity in Africa to own a shoe range, the Pink Bottoms collection.

Idols SA Season 13…And Then They Were two

It was a bittersweet finish as fans bid farewell to Top 3 Idols Season 13 finalist, Botlhale, whose journey ended just short of next week’s grand finale.

Paxton

The spectacular apex at Carnival City will feature musical prodigies Paxton, 17, and Mthokozisi, 25, in what promises to be an unforgettable night of music, dance and confetti.

But before exiting the Idols stage, Botlhale got to make some remarkable memories as part of the Top 3 whirlwind international tour.

He, Paxton and Mthokozisi enjoyed a packed four-day tour of London before coming back home to record their singles, which they debuted in Round One.

Botlhale’s Afropop love song Good Enough, Mthokozisi’s own composition Masithandane and Paxton’s pop tuneDemonstrate drew great reviews from the judges and enthusiastic reception from the live audience.

If that’s anything to go by, the three brand new songs are going to be selling fast.

Paxton and Mthokozisi

Round Two saw Paxton and Mthokozisi recreating their Theatre Week performances – only better. The teen sensation performed Estelle’s American Boy while the inked Durban boy sang Musa’s Mthande.

They closed the show with their third and last round of the evening, where they chose songs they felt were their best acts on the show so far.

Mthokozisi went with Ringo’s timeless Kum Nakum, giving a smouldering show that left Unathi speechless, Randall saying he deserved being in the Top Two and Somizi declaring: “That’s how you close the show!”

For her last showcase, Paxton slowed it down with a sweet rendition of Judy Garland’s Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Somizi gushed about her “incredible” voice control and Randall urged her to enjoy the next few days before the finale, despite the inevitable nerves.

Unathi shared that in Cape Town, people are claiming “their” Paxton. “You are amazing!” she concluded.

The audience and viewers also got to see the evicted contestants from the Top Ten when they opened the show with a percussion perfect performance of Believer by Imagine Dragons. Vocalist LaSauce also took to the stage for her hit single, I Do.

Next week’s finale will be broadcast live on Mzansi Magic, DStv Channel 161 at 17:00 CAT.

Nicki Minaj Wants to come to Zimbabwe

We are going to get a permanent visitor to our beautiful country as Anaconda hitmaker Nicki Minaj wants to come to Zimbabwe for ‘good’

Nicki Minaj – Picture by -billboard

For us, we really figure Nicki will settle in great with our kin as she will find that what she paid cash for a surgery, our sisters here are conceived with too much of it.

Obviously, we are referring to her well known prospering posterior or rather the butt inserts!

Nicki who is set to star in an H&M’s holiday campaign playfully told a young lady named Langa that both of them should travel to Zimbabwe.

Langa who is to star alongside  Nicki Minaj in the same film participates in a discussion with the rap goddess during their shoot.

Nicki asked the young lady Langa where she was from and she gladly said ‘Im originally from Zimbabwe’

Langa reveals to Nicki that she had never been to Zimbabwe so Nicki at that point recommends that the two should travel to Zimbabwe and stay away forever.

The Swedish fast-fashion retailer’s new holiday film focuses on a little girl tracking down the evil brother of Santa Claus in order to save the holidays, according to H&M.

Minaj doubles as both the mom of the girl and a fairy named Wisest Thingy and the ad is set to be released on November 28.

Why We Are Convinced That Noble Stylz’s Album is Actually Better

The Prince of wordplay Noble Stylz stepped up to the plate this year and delivered one of the most mature albums in the history of Zimbabwean hip hop aptly named Better Than Your Album.

The album deservedly earned him a Zim Hip Hop Award nomination for 2017 Best Hip-Hop Album, view the complete list here.

Balancing his growing social consciousness with a seldom display of skill and grown-up wisdom, this is an album of such potency and power it might be a game changer – provided it’s intended audience actually get to hear.

It boasts a healthy roaster of featured artists, including the likes of the young and talented Elli-ot, Trae Yung, Sharky, R.Peels, Fun F, Madzitateguru, BlacPerl and the result is awesome in all senses of the word.

Made up of seventeen tracks, the subjects vary from the super dense to the light and ornate, establishing Noble as a lyrical tour-de-force.

On Mhamha, Noble enlisted the flair of Elli-ot and made a nonesuch tribute to the matriarch that brought him up. An astonishing opener, this song introduces us to the lyrical and emotional dexterity that this album encapsulates.

The same Elli-ot who works vocal magic on the opener makes an outstanding appearance yet again on Usarambe, a love jam dedicated to a special lover. A beautiful blend of RnB and rap, it has an unheard and a rarely felt synergy that if they can only maintain, will catapult them to greater heights.

Next up is Vazivi Vekumabvazuva, an epic poetic song over an arousing piano stride. Spat in scintillating vernacular rhymes, this song harbours major political undertones that will quite shock everyone enlightened enough to crack its code.

The beautifully put together rhymes are complemented by Mr. Noxa who is saccharinely crooning in the background.

Noble raises the tone elsewhere on Problem, a mighty polemic that seems to dissects the root of some of the predicaments we’re going through as a nation. And to make his point clear he goes on to call in two rap gunslingers Sharky and R.Peels, who accordingly did justice to the remix.

On Denga Nenyasha, Noble goes in too far in submitting the plight of a “heathen” while skeptically probing and impeaching some of the practices done by churchgoers. And what’s quite interesting about this song among other things is that he’s aware that these supposed believers upon listening to the song will call it blatant blasphemy.

Another highlight of great wisdom is displayed by the spoken-word artist Madzitateguru on Nyaya Dzevakadzidza, an interlude that carries so much life lessons.

And because it’s Noble Stylz it can’t be a complete album without some cool banging tunes. Songs like Mari Kuna Papa, Dzikama and Bag NeBase register the album mostly as a party record.

One of our pickups Dzikama with N-jay and Fun is a wavy afrotrap bopper that will get the party or club going at any time, anywhere.

On Madayz Acho the rapper reminisces about the days when things weren’t rosy in his life and people used to jeer at him. With Maclyne on the Beat, Noble declares triumphantly that he’s still the best vernacular rapper, dead or alive.

The album also carries along some of the best freestyles you’ll hear all day. There’s the G.O.A.T freestyle that yet again finds Noble maintaining his dexterous flow over a deft production.

Another freestyle found on the album again is Facts, a hard-hitting piece with lethal facts towards almost everyone.

Long story short, Better Than Your Album is indeed a rapper’s rap album. All the elements that make Noble Stylz a potent and entertaining artist are present on this album, the hard-hitting truths, razor-sharp lyricism and minds blowing wordplays.

Actually, it is an album that demands higher standards from the Zimhip-hop culture and the rapper himself.

There might be some young capable spitters rapping right now, but this album has taught us a lesson: old school still has some currency in hip-hop. It nods to forebears, styles and experience.
